I think it could mean that he's getting less air... not less milk. sloshing around and what not comes from the presence of air in the tummy... not food/milk. if he seems to be growing ok and has less tummy aches, i wouldn't be too worried.
Hi Ladies! I have a son who is 19 months old this month. We are currently breastfeeding at night only. It used to be when I fed him, I'd hear the milk hit his belly, and the 'bubbling' sounds he was getting fed. For about 2 weeks now, I haven't heard that sound... does that mean I'm not producing milk anymore?? Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Squeeze your areola/nipple. You'll see if you still have milk.
If you're still nursing, you're still producing milk. It's that simple. If you're only nursing at night, you're not making as much milk as you used to, but your body is still making milk.
Another thing to consider is if you might be pregnant. Generally, milk production does decrease with pregnancy. If you are pregnant, it's still fine to keep breastfeeding. I'm nursing my 2 year old and am 35 weeks preggers. No problem!
Hi Carrie, I am nursing at 23 months and my milk production has certainly changed. I don't feel my let-down like I used to and he doesn't drink as hard as he did.
Does your son ever come off in the middle of nursing (or you could take him off). When my son does this I can see just a little milk left on my nipple and that's how I know he's still drinking! And, of course, you can pump a little to see.
Just an FYI, my Naturopath suggested that I nurse a minimum of 3x per day to keep up my milk supply. (I noticed my supply diminishing at 2x per day). She states that less than that is not really enough to keep up supply. But, I do think if you nurse at all, you'll probably have at least a little milk in there.
And, you could also ask your son. He may be able to communicate "all gone" or not, to you.
Great job on your breastfeeding!! That is awesome!
So glad you are still breastfeeding! I have a 21 month old and am too. I don't think that he would still be breastfeeding if you didn't produce milk. Is he eating solids? Mostly breastfeeding is for comfort, yet does provide nutrition and immune protection. There was an article in Mothering a while back on the benefits of breastfeedig toddlers. You may be able to get a back copy from their website. No worries about enough/not enough...you are doing the BEST thing for your child. The WHO (World Health Org) says 3 years, and the APA (American Pediatric Assoc.) says 2 years...so nice work! :)
