My baby is breech since 25 weeks, I am looking for a doctor for ECV, my OB isn't willing to try a ECV since she never had it successful, but I don't want to have a C-section, this is my first and I am already 39 weeks.

What can I do next?

I saw a chiropractor that specialized in the "Webster Breech Turning Technique" and she turned my baby at 36/37 weeks...I pushed my second baby out with great ease after 7 hours of labor (literally 2 pushes!). GO SOONER THAN LATER... they will want to see you like every day until the baby is no longer breech or you give birth. My baby flipped after 2 visits and then I saw them to maintain the position. I used the link below to find the right one that is certified to do the technique.

I used the info on this site to help with my last pregnancy. She kept wanting to go sideways and at one time breach starting about 30 weeks. She just kept spinning around! In the end she finally went head down a couple weeks before she was born and stayed there. It's mostly stretches and letting gravity help coax the baby the right way. I would shine a flashlight at my lower abdomen to encourage her to move toward it as well. I hope things work out for you. Best of luck!

Go to your health food store and get homeopathic Pulsatilla. It works really well to turn a baby. Just take 4 tablets by mouth every few hours. It worked on my baby. Also, you could try a chiropractor who uses the Webster method. You might be too far along for it to work successfully. If you are out of alignment, it can make your pelvis tip, causing the baby to find the best position. Once you are in alignment again, the baby pops right down into position. I'd try both if it were me.

I was born vaginal breech... out of a strange turn of events I ended up having a breech vaginal baby. My doctor in Fort Worth delivered our second son breech vaginal. Perfectly healthy birth. He turned during labor from being head down to breech! If you're a candidate for breech vaginal delivery the real risk is that doctors don't know how to do it. There are a lot of factors -- to determine if you're a good candidate -- the size of the baby, being a main contributing factor. This was my third child, not my first, and the smallest of all my children. His head was smaller then his belly, so my doctor felt confident his head wouldn't get stuck.

Though you don't want a c-section, I am sure you want whats best for your baby. Be ready for the idea that since this is your first birth, the baby may be too large for you to pass. You haven't failed if you can't have a vaginal birth. That said, I hope you can find a doctor as a second consultation for some help turning the baby or discussing a vaginal delivery.

Good luck - and congrats!

Visit the website for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (acog.org), they will have physicians listed in your local area. You can call around and see who's willing to do that.

I was born breech, but most physicians can't assume the medical liability (malpractice insurance) it takes to cover themselves if something happens, so they don't give the mother the option.

I'd also check their policies on ECV in addition to this link: http://www.babycenter.com/0_breech-birth_158.bc?page=2#ar...

Have a frank discussion with your OB about your concerns and why she's unwilling to try. It would be nice if we really had control over certain things as patients, but unfortunately, the cost of practicing medicine and the risk of being sued in the OB/GYN specialty is so considerable, they often make the decisions for you.

Good luck - if it's any consolation, my daughter was breech until the last minute and flipped on her own.

You have so many good responses, I'm sure you will figure this out. I wanted to say good luck on your birth and may it be as beautiful as you imagined. Almost 35 years ago, I was born breech and had the umbilical cord around my neck. I wasn't too pretty when I came out but I was healthy!!!

Speak to amidwife in your area for a recommendation. They refer patients all the time and know who's good!
I had an ECV with my daughter, it was fairly easy, uncomfortable but painless... and I had a great natural birth experience!
Good luck!
