My son's kindergarten teacher is getting married this summer and I'd like to throw her a small shower from the kids towards the end of the year. I need some in terms of what to have the kids do for the shower. I'd like to have them do a small craft ahead of time (I found out her upcoming vacation days) so that I can give it to her at the shower. One mom suggested a cookbook made from recipes from the parents. Another suggested having the kids draw a picture about marriage and then put it together in a scrapbook.

I'm just looking to see if their are any other cute ideas that kindergarten aged children can do. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

This is such a nice idea. When I got married my students (high school) threw me a little party, and I was just so touched that they were thinking of me. I would stick to giving the teacher stuff made by the kids, because as a teacher it would make me feel a little funny knowing that the parents were getting me gifts (even recipes). But that's just me. Honestly, I think any craft that the kids can do would be so appreciated.

Since she is a teacher, I think she'll get the biggest kick if it is something from the kids...Design a page with a sentence that says "Being married means.........." Then leave space for them to finish the sentence and draw a picture. Collect all pages and have them bound into a booklet.

OR I also LOVE the idea of them decorating the "Just Married" sign for the car!

OR get a class photo and add a wide white matte and let them sign their names in colorful markers and crayons,

When my sister got married, her kids did the following and it was adorable!

They bought a small tree and had each child write some "words of wisdom" on brightly covered paper and then folded them to look like flowers and tied them to the tree. They planted the tree at their new home. She put the little flowers into an album after they looked through them.

The kids had a little party for her- cupcakes, punch and white wedding bells all over. It was sweet and cute pictures.

A fill in the blank for the kids would be great. I got one from 2nd graders titled "I love Ms. Jones because . . . " and the kids wrote and illustrated one page each. Kinder kids might need a one word answer. "The best part about being married is ....." But of course, an adult can help them write a longer answer. I still have my book made my my students. But even in just a few short years, I forget their full names, so make sure kids' names are written on their picture.

Another idea - have the kids act out a little 'play' for their teacher. Perhaps a view of what her ceremony will be like. If you do this, make sure to video tape it so that the teacher can take it home to show her husband-to-be.

Even a drawing from each kid of what their teacher will look like at her wedding would be cute. Or what will the cake look like. Or how the car will be decorated.

Or maybe if you do the asile runner, each kiddo could put their handprint on it with paint, along with their name. If you don't do it for the actual aisle, it could be hung somewhere for the teacher.

Good luck. Have fun with this.

What if each kid make a paper flower. Put all of the flowers together for form a bouquet?

Buy an aisle runner. Have the kids decorate it. She can then use it in the ceremony.

They could make a 'Just Married' sign/decorations for the car.

Wow, there are some cute suggestions here. I like the idea of having each child make a flower to form a bouquet. I did that once w/my Church school class. Maybe she could carry it for the rehersal! I also like the idea of a cook book and w/each recipe having a small quote from the child about love is.... I think that would be useful as well as cute. This is such a nice idea!

Hi K.
What a generous idea!
I had a thought as I was reading your email. Have you ever seen those clips about what kids think love is? I would expand on the cookbook idea to include a recipe from mom, and a favorite of the student, and a what love means from the child. You might be surprised what they come up with. What about them drawing a picture of what love - marriage means and while they are drawing ask what they think love means and subtitle the page with what love means.
I wonder what you would get.
Questions just ask
God bless you and I hope you get lots of ideas you can encompass into your shower. Take lots of pictures too.

Thas a wonderful and very sweet idea. I'm sure she will love anything that you do, so why not so both. The kids can make her pictures and rh parents can donate recipies with a little tidbits on how to have a happy marriage. You can even put them both in the same book and call it a recipe/scrapbook on love! She will treasure the pictures every time she reaches for a new recipe to try out.
