Brown Discharge & Pink Spotting in Early Pregnancy?

I am late for my period. For the last few days I've been having an occasional light brown discharge (not much at all) and occasionally I've had a very light pink discharge (not much at all). This discharge has only been occasionally and keeps going away. However, I keep thinking I will start my period because of it. My periods have always been regular. I would take a pregnancy test but I am terrified to take one. I've already lost two babies this year (early miscarriage and ectopic 2 months in) and so I am afraid if I get a positive it will end in another disappointment but I am also afraid that if it is negative I am going to be upset too. I have two children but never spotted with either one of them. The only time I've had bleeding in a pregnancy is when I lost them! But those bleedings were definitely a lot more than this little bitty discharge I am having occasionally right now. Has anyone else experienced this sort of discharge... and been pregnant... and if you were pregnant, did you carry the babies full-term? I am afraid of another huge let-down...

Also, I chart when I am fertile/ovulating so I know for sure that I am late and not just a few days off.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I finally took a Dollar Tree pregnancy test but it came up negative. I still have not started my period and I am now going on 4 days late (31 days since last menstrual and 18 days since ovulation). I don't know what to think. I guess I'll keep walking around with pads in my purse until either I start my menstrual or I get a positive test. Sigh... Thanks for your help and encouragement.

I spotted at around the 5-6 week mark with both of my pregnancies. How late are you? It was exactly what you're describing - some brown and some pink but not much. I carried all 3 (my 2nd pregnancy was twins) of my kids to full term and they're all as healthy as can be!

You should take a test. If you have had an ectopic in the past it is wise to seek a doctor's care early in the game and be monitored. Your chances increase with each ectopic of another being the same. I had two and one ruptured and required an emergency surgery. Bleeding early in pregnancy can mean nothing at all and many have carried full term without a problem. Face your future with whatever it hands you and don't go nuts running around in circles in your mind. Find out and move on.
Best Regards,

I bled with both my pregnancies. Oddly enough I didn't with my miscarriages.

During implantation you can spot, my sister in law had spotting with placenta previa. I had previa too but didnt spot. Both our cases of previa corrected itself.

I had this during my third pregnancy, they found that I had a little blood clot, eventually it went away, spotted/bled for the first couple of months on and off, not much at all but noticable. have a happy little third addition to the family now!! Spotting is very, VERY common in early pregnancy. Best wishes

You certainly need to test, especially with your history of ectopic pregnancy, you need to be under close watch. That said, with my son (who is now a happy, healthy, 10 month old) I had a lot of spotting and actually some heavy bleeding early on. I was told more than once that I would likely miscarry, but instead, he hung in there and was born at 39 1/2 weeks weighing a healthy 8lbs 6oz and healthy as a horse!

I had this with my third pregnacny, but not with my others. I dealt with infertility for 5 years and ended up having twins through IVF, so I didn't think getting pregnant was possible. So I didn't even think I was pregnant. But then I thought this shouldn't be my period, it was too light. I was indeed pregnant (surprise) and everything went fine. I lost my very first IVF pregnancy at 5 months....so I do know how hard it is. If you know you are late, go ahead and do a test. It is better to know then not. You can drive yourself crazy. Remember there is nothing you can do to prevent what has happened to you in the past. That was the hardest thing for me....it was so out of my control. So good luck and hang in there.
