We had a sitter who left the microwave popcorn in to long and we can't get the smell out of the microwave.

What can I do next?

Try microwaving a 50/50 solution of lemon juice and water for 8 minutes at 50% power. This is what I use to clean my microwave and it works great. GOOD LUCK!

You could try cleaning it with vinegar and water (you can even microwave it) to get it warm. Or lemon juice and water.
If you do that with the vinegar get it good and hot and leave it in there for several hours or overnight.

This happened at our office and we just put a few pieces of crumpled up newspaper in the microwave and closed the door. It sat in the microwave for most of the day and absorbed the smell. No need to turn it on or scrub it or anything.

Put some water in a large mug and add lots of cinnamon and cloves or whatever sweet spices you have and boil it for several minutes. Place a saucer under it first in case it boils over. Your house will smell like Christmas!

You can do either of these... cut an onion, place it in the microwave for about 15 minutes.. that will do it..

If you dont like the smell of onion, you can always clean it with a little bit of bleach and water...(just a little bit of bleach in the water).

I do the lemon juice/water mix also. I had the same problem, and it took a few tries, but this did the trick. Also, leave an open baking soda in the microwave overnight. This will help absorb some of the odor. Good luck!
