Is it just me or does anyone else find jeans to be to long for them ? I'm out of the loop fashion wise so I need help here. I'm trying to find some jeans a.s.a.p! I'm 5ft 5in (i didn't think that was short) not over weight 130 pnds , I do have a mommy tummy . It seems everywhere I look the jeans are 2 inches to long and I can't go down a size or they are to big everywhere else. Petite is way to short ( I like a little long). The only way the length would work is with high heels. What do you all do? I need to wear them with tennis shoes and keep up with kids. If nothing else please tell me I'm not the only one!!! :( Thanks:)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

You ladies are the best. I've been recently trying to find jeans that fit in figure and length and I thought to myself "am I the only one not fitting into these crazy long jeans". And I wondered what secrets there might be to dealing with it. I really appreciate all the suggestions and knowing it's not just me. I'll be looking into a few brands , stores ,hemming and for the time being I've tape hemmed the pair I bought. It's working:) And to all you long legged ladies .......Luckies!!

I like jeans from Lands' End because they'll hem to the length I specify. I think other online & catalog stores will as well. Maybe LL Bean?

Good luck!

I'm 5'5" too. I have very long legs for my height so in general jeans fit well. In the event I have located jeans that are "too" long, I factor in the cost to get them hemmed professionally into the price and determine if they are still worth it. Nothing beats a great fitting pair of jeans. I wear mine mostly with tennis shoes or boots with a low heel. High heels terrorize my feet.

5'5" is too tall for petites.
Can you get a straight size but in a "short"...sometimes they have 8S, 8M, 8L in regular sizes.....

If you purchase jeans at Nordstrom they will alter them for free. Unless you want to keep the original hem - then they charge $20. - If you are spending $150-$250 on a pair of jeans then it is worth it to make sure they are the correct length. Nordstrom has amazing alterations people; I would trust them with any garmet.

I find they do shrink over time. So they start out as high heel jeans and become tennis shoe jeans. This is problematic if you hem them now and they shrink even more. You're not the only one with this problem.

LOL I'm 5'1 and fatter than you...all my jeans are too long so I always have to get them shortened.
Unless there were some kind of fat kids store for me, I'll have to keep on doing what I do....

Jeans are being made to wear with heels since that is the fashionable thing. Please do not say they are being made too long I am 6'2 and have a hard time finding ones long enough that have a flattering cut! If I can start to buy some off the rack that are the more flattering cuts GREAT! Honestly, just get them hemmed up.

YES, I have that problem and I'm 5'4" and petite are too short in the body or something, I hate cutting off jeans and it's awful finding pants of any kind that fit. I have to find a 'short' and hope they are okay. Sometimes when I sit down then they feel like they ride up and show my ankle too much but average is dragging on the ground when I walk. Glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I also have problems some places with tops as the sleeves go way past my arms. I think they make clothes for tall people these days. I hate shopping.

:) I feel your pain, I hate shopping because I am always in a rush and it takes so much time to find things that fit well.

But I have to say, I love reading all of the replies here. So many different responses. Just goes to show, we are all different sizes and shapes. And I'm sure all of you are beautiful. I guess it would be impossible to produce jeans that would fit everyone. :)

Happy shopping!

I am just your size and having the same problem. I used to be able to find pants just the right length, but now I think most pants are cut for heels -- unless you want to wear capris all the time!

I have found that problem too. I got a pair from Rue 21 that were like 4 inches too long. :(
I do like boot cut jeans and have found that Khols and JcPenny carry brands that are the right lenghth. I'm 5' 3". I found a brand called Grane at Macy's that are a nice fit too.

It's not to expensive to get pants hemmed by a tailor. I would just factor that into the cost when you buy a pair. For me, I usually have to take in the waist. They're always about two inches too big, so I have been resigned to the fact that most of the time, I'll need to take them to a tailor to get the right fit.

I'm 5'6 and they are long sometimes. I fold them up once. After like 6 months they get to the right length after going through the dryer so many times.

I'm 5'4" so I feel your pain. I just plan to get all of my jeans hemmed at the tailor. It only costs $10 - 20 and makes the pants look great. Give it a try!

You are not the only one. I am 5'2" I take my jeans to get hemed, it costs somewhere around $10. My jeans are really expensive so it is worth it to get them hemed as they usually run 3 inches to long. Good luck!

I am about your size but have a high waist and long legs and I hate trying to find jeans. I usually end up doing the hick my pants dance because in order to find something that fits in the length, I have to deal with too big in the waist. (I also think that the recent fashion for jeans is slight boot cut and longer for heels...not really an option for those of us who are moms or tomboys!)

NYDJ (Not your Daughter's Jeans). They are THE BEST! They come in all fabrics, are not low-rise and have a stretchy comfortable material. I always get compliments when I wear them.

You're not the only one! I'm just a couple of inches shorter and a VERY few pounds lighter and I have the exact same problem! I just cuff them up at the bottom. I did find some jeans in the junior section last weekend - size 16 that fit me perfectly - waist and length!!!! I found them at JC Penney.

I'm 5'7" and wear size 4 and they are always too long! I'm not sure who they are making jeans for... I hear getting them hemmed is the way to go. I just let mine get ratty at the bottom :/

V.W.

answers from Jacksonville on

Nope. I'm just shy of 5'7" and until they started making the boot cut longer jeans, they were all too short for me after about 3 trips through the washer and dryer. (YES, I wash AND dry my jeans-I don't have the time nor energy to go thru the hassle to hang my jeans to dry). I am not tall enough to buy "long" or "tall" jeans... as they are too long.
