T.K.
I just had a c-section and I sleep with my baby in the bed with me. It's cheaper and I don't have to get up and down or reach for my baby.
Hello it's me again. I am trying to figure out on bassinets...I am having to have a c-section and my husband is in the military so will only be home with me for about 10 days and then sometimes away for a few nights completely so I'm concerned about lifting the baby at night for feedings and not injuring my self or the baby. Any suggestions on the best bassinets to use with a c-section? There are soo many out there and I'm so confused! Any suggestions would be fabulous.

I had 2 vaginal births followed by a c/s birth and all 3 of my kids used the same bassinet - just a regular bassinet - I felt fine by the time I went home from the hospital - accessing the bassinet was not an issue - if you only have a pack and play that has no bassinet insert - I can see that being hard to bend that far over.
I had my daughter in her crib after my c-section and didn't really have any problems. However, if your bed is high, you may want to get a milk crate or something to step you up to get into bed. Our bed was super high and it was hard for me to get in until my sister brought me a milk crate from work.
Best of luck and congratulations!!!!
I had a Csection as well. (my baby girl is 3 months now) I know co sleepers are a little expensive. Also as mos ladys have told you csections arent always too bad to recover from. I did take a little longer. Any ways at my baby shower someone gave me this sleeper that you can fold and unfold! It is really neat and you can put it right on your bed. Alot cheaper than a co-sleeper and it always comes in handy when you go to the park, beach or even to the inlaws. great little place for them to sleep. And it folds up and comes with a strap so its easy to carry! Eddie Bauer Infant Travel Bed With Toy Bar this is the one that was given to me! I hope I helped
I had 2 c-sections.
I didn't have a problem... my firstborn used a crib.
My 2nd child, I used a "Moses Basket" which I LOVED... and wished I used it with my firstborn. My son slept SO well in it.
You can find them at baby stores... although I got mine online via Amazon.
You can see the ratings there of it.
The Moses Basket is portable and you can put it anywhere you want near you. Of course don't put it up on a table or anything for safety reasons.
But for my son, I put it right next to me on the floor as I slept. Wherever I was. I could always keep him near me whenever he was sleeping/napping, no matter what room I was in.
My son used the Moses Basket until he outgrew it... about 3 months. Then switched him to a crib.
ALSO, get a "Boppy Pillow" for feedings or just for holding him. LOVE the Boppy Pillow. VERY helpful.
I really recommend it. It also provides protection/support for your tummy/surgery.
All the best,
Susan
What about a co-sleeper? They sit right up against your bed so it would be an easy reach. I did not have a c-section but think it would be a good idea.
I had a c-section and the pack n play from graco has an awesome bassinet( sort of a soft cloth basket like one) and it worked great for me. At a good height and made baby feel very comfy. Good luck with your c-section and also go out and get some support top underwear for after it'll make things easier.
I had have a c-section and when I got home I put my son in a pack-n-play with the bassinet setting. I'm a very short woman but it worked fine. I had gotten one as a portable crib. Glad I did since our crib is talll and our cradle was upstairs. There was no way I could have done a whole flight of stairs multiple times a day. I say this with being a quick to heal person that took minimal pain meds the whole way through. In two weeks I was back to moving freely without any meds. Hope you are able to recover as quickly. GL with the LO.
I had a c-section with my son and we used a regular bassinet. Well as regular as they get these day, vibration, music etc. you'll be fine lifitng baby out of a bassinet. Most of them are about waist high.
Congrats on your upcoming delivery.
The C-section recovery may not be as bad as you think it may be. I bounced back fairly quickly with minimal usage of pain meds. And I used just a plain ole pack n' play.
arms reach cosleeper-a little pricey but worth the investment-my daughter was in there for 7 months till I moved her to the crib. I also had a csection. it attatches to the bed & your level so it is easy to get the baby in & out. I am 6 months prego w. my 2nd one & plan to do the same-csection & use the cosleeper
good luck
I also had a c-section, and my bassinette was awesome! I had the co-sleeper. You can drop the side partway down so you can just roll over and get them. It was pretty easy for me to grab my son out of it. Its not really pretty or fancy, but it worked great. I'm sorry you will only have your husband for 10 days. I can't imagine how hard that must be.
I have had 2 c-sections and with both I used a pack-n-play with the raised part and the changing table. It worked great. Good luck and congrats!
Use should look into a co-sleeper its adjustable in height and attach to any size bed.
Hi A., if your c-section is planned then your recovery hopefully won't be as bad as for someone who has labored a long time. You could look into getting a support belt, many hospitals have them and you can get one to take home, or purchase one from a site like abdomend.com (they are pricey there), but they help support your healing and let you get around easier. As long as you don't lift anything heavier than your baby, you should be okay at ten days. As far as a bassinet, I would get the co sleeper. It has three sides and you push it right up next to the bed at the same level as the bed. Then you can reach over and get baby without having to get in and out of bed. Good luck, I hope everything goes great for you.
I was in the same position 10 month ago, except my c -section came as a shock as I had had 4 vaginal births and baby #5 was sideways. My hubby got the 5 days paternity leave and then was told he could not have any more leave. We had the Arm's Reach sleigh co-sleeper. It is pricier than the other ones but smaller than a full size pack n play and we liked the wood look. We've used it for the last two babies. It attached to the bed and was really easy for nights when hubby was on duty and I was alone with the kids. The baby slept in it for six months and now we use it as a bench in the girls room. It is sturdy enough that me or my husband can sit on it and read to our girls. Best of luck and remember to ask for help when you need it. Sometimes people, even our family don't realize how tough it can be when your husband simply cannot come home and help you.
I had a c/s with both of my boys and we use a family bassinet that all new babies use. My DH's mom even slept in it when she was a baby! The height is the biggest thing. Just make sure it's not too high or too low. The one we have is just a little higher than our bed (which sits low) and is comfortable for me to reach while sitting in bed. After the first 2 weeks, I've been by myself during the week while my husband is away at work. The first 2 weeks are really the hardest. I never had a problem getting my baby in or out of the bassinet at all.
