Well, I had a c-section about 17 months ago. In the beginning of my pregnancy I weighed 110 lbs and at the end I weighed 161. I am now back at 112. and also, I didn't get put on any birth control. And I didn't start my period til after she was 6 months. And I have also had sex with my boyfriend (no protection) since she was 4 months old. And I haven't got pregnant yet. Also, my period is still irregular. But to the point. My section has always had some what of pain but it seems to get a little worse. It is a bit numb but right above the scar it is swollen. The swelling seems like it is getting worse. It hurts to the touch and I can also feel lumps. Here lately I have been doing sit ups to prepare myself to join the military. But, now idk if I can cause about 3 days ago I did about 50 situps and now my c-section area hurts so bad i can barely do 5! The swelling seems way worse. And the pain is soreness, burning, sharp pain. I can't even wear pants that are somewhat snug. I just need help!!!! Please!

What can I do next?

I feel horrible! I think I may be getting the stomach virus.. but I also just found out im not able to join military because of my anxiety. But thank you for all the help (:

I had a c-section 3.5 years ago and the area still feels a little numb. When I felt it bumpy and puffy I went to the dr.'s right away and it was infected. You may have an infection or like the other readers are suggesting a hernia. Call your dr. and have them check it out before it gets any worse.

Have you not seen a Dr. about this? It could be a hernia which is a weak or open area that can be from the incision or muscle that allows the bowel or stomach to protrude outward through the opening. It can feel lumpy and painful. You definitely need to check this out with a medical evaluation as you could be harming yourself by putting it off and the situps are likely worsening the condition. It can be detrimental and cause bowel necrosis or develop into an emergency. You might already be an emergency situation and it might be something that would require surgery. Hernias can be very serious and not something that will go away on it's own, they can be fixed. Get to the DR. and stop messing around with the excercises until you find out! This is not normal.

Sounds like you may have done something. THose muscles are still very weak, and not prepared to take on too much strain. Numbness is normal, but not pain. Please, see your OB to get evaluated and treated properly. I would lay off the situps in the future.

Haven't read other responses, sorry if I repeat. The numbness is normal, I can barely feel anything up to my belly button( 3 sections). The swelling could be a hernia. You'll just have to have the doc look / get an image to know for sure.

I had a c section 2 weeks shy of 1 year. The incision sight is still numb but I highly recommend that you see your doctor ASAP.

Good luck and I hope you feel better.

See your OB. You may have ruptured some internal stitching or developed some sort of infection. Don't wait -- and try not to exert that area until you've been checked by a doc. Call now :)

Welcome to mamapedia!!!

I didn't have a C-section, to be honest, I can't understand the pain you are going through. I'm sorry you are in pain.

You need to go to your OB/GYN and show them the lumpiness and tell them about the pain. That does not sound normal. Swelling, burning sensations and pain are our bodies way of telling us there is a problem. Yours is screaming at you that there is a problem!!!

GO. TO. A. DOCTOR!!!

If you are planning on joining the military - I would stop having unprotected sex. Either way - I would stop having unprotected sex until this issue gets resolved.

good luck!
