Hi S.--
I cannot say if it is true or not...

It seems to me (if you are **UP*** for it...
Could be fun...no matter the outcome...

I realize that if you are having a normal healthy pregnancy, orgasms don't start premature labor. But how about if you are near the end of your pregnancy... can orgasms help induce labor when you are closer to going in to labor? I read something about a woman who gave herself as many orgasms as she could in one day, and it did the trick. Do you think this is a myth, or something to it?

My Dr. said it's true. In fact, I was forbidden from having sex by her, because she didn't want me to go into labor. (Planned c-section for medical reasons.) I though, okie dokie...don't want to anyway!
Brittany is correct.
I don't agree that it is better to use the artificial pitocin (rather than natural oxytocin). With pitocin, your body has hard, fast contractions from the moment it is in your system. With oxytocin, your body starts the normal contraction pattern of light, far apart to start...gardually increasing in intensity and frequency.
I always lean toward the natural way of doing things - without unnecessary interventions - if possible. It is not always possible, of course, but most times it is.
It is true. When pregnant with my first, I took the labor classes. The instructor did say that it does work, but it's better to use the pitocin because you can turn the meds off, you can't turn off the orgasms.
I think it could work, or at least help things along. My ob had us having sex until the day of delivery... he said it keeps everything much more healthy down there for delivery. I had two easy deliveries, so I believe it :)
It's not a myth. Orgasms can help to induce labor. Not only have a read this in several parenting type magazines, but have been told the same by my OB.
Could help and couldn't hurt! But, I had sex almost daily during my last trimester, so I still believe babies come when they are ready and not a day earlier!
LOL sounds like a good idea to me!! Stock up before the baby comes...you won't have the chance for a while.
I don't know if its true or not, but my sister-in-law was two weeks late and her OBGYN told her to have sex to help jump start things. Sadly her husband told her it was 'too nasty' when she was that pregnant so she didn't get to find out if it worked.
