I would recommend cleaning with vinegar, as you would a coffee pot. You could also try a mix of baking soda and water.
Hi Mommys...I have a question. My daughter LOVES the little squirty fish that she plays with in the tub but they are getting icky and I think getting the start of mold on them...I have a net that i hang the toys in to dry, but the insides I am not so sure about. I dont have any problem throwing them out and getting new ones, but if I can get them cleaned somehow, that would be great. If anyone has any solutions, i would appreciate it!!
Thanks moms...i filled a bucket with bleach and water and cleaned all of the toys. The toys that didn't clean well I tossed and we got some new stuff! Thanks alot for all of the advice!

How about a little bleach water sucked into the fish several times once a week. Suck the bleach water in and squirt it out several times. You could also use white vinegar water also. Hope it helps. I know an extra chore.
i have a front load washing machine
hot water and bleach
but i have thrown most of them away
think of the bacteria you wash off her body (butt)
I too wash ours in the dishwasher. I do so once a month. Also, it's important to make sure you sqeeze all the water out of them after each bath to prevent mold and such. I too agree that if they have any black or gunk to throw them away. But squeezing the water out after each bath, so they have a chance to dry out and dishwashing them periodically make them last a lot longer than otherwise.
try this:
Dilute bleach with water in your tub or sink.Fill the tub toys with this water, then let it sit for as long as you can. Then empty the bleach/water and rinse well.
Hope this helps.
I just throw them in the dishwasher and it seems to work pretty well for my son's toys.
Hi
We too have the little squeeze tub toys that get funky inside. To clean them, I get a bucket that I fill partway with water & bleach, then put the toys in and squeeze/empty them a few times. Then I soak & squeeze/empty them in clear water until I feel all the bleach residue is gone.

I throw the bathtub toys in the dishwasher. Its the best way to clean them and I do this at least twice a month. If the inside is black then it has funk and you want to throw them away.
