My daughter is turning 5 next month (I can hardly believe it.. that's a whole different post LOL). Anyway I am doing a Candy Store theme. I have made her the cutest lollipop invitations, plan on doing a candy buffet, a chocolate fountain, play Candy themed music, and I plan on giving a toothbrush as one of the favors as a peace offering to the parents. Other than that I am drawing blanks, do you ladies have an ideas for games, activities, cute crafts, etc..

A few other ideas I had was for them to make a candy necklace or bracelet but I am not sure what kind of candy to use for that? And I did see one game that you hide a chocolate chip in a bowl of whip cream and have them fish for the chocolate chip with their mouths hands behind their backs (and obviously separate bowl). I just worry about the mess with that one!

What are you thought and ideas, I need a little help. The activities must be inside because you never know what the Texas weather can bring in February.

How about instead of a bowl of whipped cream you put a chocolate chip in a bowl of cherrios (or something like it). That way you can easily sweep them up.
If you want to do another favor but stick with the toothbrush thing these were super popular when I was in Jr. high. The are cheap enough and easy enough for you to do before the party.

My girlfriend made a Candy Land, life size game in her back yard, by using spray paint to make the squares. She had the neighborhoods coming over for weeks wanting to play.

As a parent, I HATE the idea of candy braclets and necklaces. Germy fingers touching everything, then the candy against dirty necks, and into the mouth. Yuck!

My girls used to go this in Girl Scouts, maybe a little old for 5 year olds. Tie marshmellows to a ribbon and hang. With out using their hands the girls need to eat the marshmellow.

Have fun!

use life savers to make necklaces or bracelets, and play candy land.

on a healthier note, do you or anyone you know have a dehydrator? you can blend up one pint of strawberries, 1 jar applesauce and a package of jello mix (strawberry) and make home made fruit roll ups or mix the strawberry jello with honey and coat banana slices and candied bananas.

Rent willy wonka and I bet you will get a lot of ideas. Right now I'm hearing a lot of "Candy" but no "Shop". What's the shop aspect going to be? In a candy shop they have those huge tubes of brightly colored candy and you fill plastic bags that get weighed by the pound. Part of the fun is choosing a little of this and a little of that. Give some thought to how can you incorporate that into the party. If that's not possible, maybe adjust to a CANDYLAND theme. Candy is still the base, but you can use the game for ideas. Make a cake that looks like the game board, etc.

a lifesaver necklace or bracelet would be a cute take home craft they can make. Its not messy as long as it stays dry and they can eat it later. :) I am not a game person, so I draw a blank on that one. You can always send home those ring pops, kids love those!

There are kits you can get for the candy necklaces or bracelets. You could also get candy molds and let them make their own (maybe a lollipop or a choc pop). Do it at the start of the party so it is set and ready at the end. They could "make their own candy" by taking a styrofoam circle and wrapping it in colored cellophane (like a piece of hard candy) and then they would have their own decoration to take home. They can make their own lollipop bouquet.

What a cute idea!

You could do a "cake walk" except with a candy prize. Just put colored laminated paper (You could do cute candy shapes) on the ground in a circle. One or two should be special ones (extra big, special design, etc). You play music (fun candy themed music would be cute!) and he the kids go around the circle stepping on the candy shapes. When the music stops, whoever is on the special shapes wins a fun prize.

You could also decorate cookies to look like lollipops. Ahead of time, make small sugar cookies, and insert a lollipop stick in the dough before baking. (You can get these at Michaels Arts and Crafts. Wilton makes them.) Then have colored frosting and candies for the kids to decorate them with. They are cute and tons of fun. And totally unhealthy, I know, I know! :)

You could also do a "How many are there?" contest. Put lots of bright colored candy, like jelly beans, in a large jar and have the kids guess how many candies are in the jar. The one who guesses the closest wins and gets to take the candy jar home.

If you don't want to do lifesavers for the candy necklaces, you can use fruit loops instead. Cheaper and not quite so sugary.

If I think of other ideas, I'll write again. Good luck and have fun!
