My doctor delivers at Cape Coral Hospital. I personally do not like that hospital or think its is very clean. My 3 year old daughter was born at Health park. It was very clean and the people are nice. I asked a nurse at my doctors office and they said Cape has changed their birhing suites and so has Health Park. Cape is cleaner and they have better rooms. As Health Park change their entire set up. Has any one been to the Cape or Health park hospital recently and can tell me what its like?

What can I do next?

Health Park is soooooo much better all around.
You can ask both hospitals for a tour of thier birthing suites, then make your choice.
I was in Health Park in May, and have been going there for years, because my son has some health issues, I have never had bad service and the facility is always clean.
They have made some changes, but i have only seen changes for the better there.

All three of my children were born there and the same doctor! First one was in 1990 - second 1993 and then our surprise son in 2005 ! Anyway, my experience was great and the nurses Ihad were very nice on my shifts. This time I had issues with my son and jaundice and they were very accomodating to me- although being a very longtime patient of my doctor may have helped! Dr. Levy was soooo nice and always has been - he delievered all of mine. I found Cape Hospital clean of course my son is two now- so I am commenting on May 2005 as the most recent visit. Good Luck-L.

I delivered my son at Cape. He will be 2 in Oct. but, the room was nice. It was BIG, it was clean. The nurses were awesome. If I needed anything, someone was always available. I must of taken 5 baths, up & down to the restroom, the "BIG" ball I tried on in off during the whole labor time. Hey, this is what they do. I dont think I upset anyone, but at that point I did not care. The food...NASTY, but comeon who enjoys hospital food. Lets face it your only there a few days & when this precious baby is born, it's your whole world. So to answer your question Cape was not all that bad.

Don't they offer tours of the birth wing? I'd call and see and go look at both, then decide what you think.

I had my son at Cape hospital in Jan 2006. Because of complications he was then transfered to the NICU at Health Park. He had to stay in NICU for a little while, so we got to experience both the hospitals at the same time. Although Health Park is a nicer building, I would say the birthing suites and level of care is better at Cape. I never thought of it as being dirty and I'm a neat freak, so I would say it is much better than your last experience there. I loved the massive birthing suite I had, there was plenty of room for my husband to relax and sleep if he wanted to and lots of space for visitors. The staff were all excellent and the security was very very good. My only compliant was that the TV didn't have a remote control!

I would get a tour of both hospitals and see what you think. But remember that you are giving birth in a birthing room, not in the main lobby!!!

Oh, I've also heard that Cape Hospital is more open to natural and alternative methods of birth than Health Park - that might make a difference to you. Not sure if this is totally true, just what I've heard.

(I'm expecting my second child in September, and will be having it at the Cape).

I delivered in December, 2006 at the Cape. I loved it. The nurses are Fabulous and the birthing floor is wonderful. There are 13 birthing rooms, so everyone can have their own room. I loved having the privacy of my own suite. I am not sure if other hospitals do the same, but it was a nice luxury.
And the food isnt so bad, they have a Subway...wich also made personal pizzas..in the commons area and a fruit & salad bar. And of course a full assembly line of some not so good fixin's.
Oh, I also brought a basket of chocolate..cookies, hot chocolate & mugs..in with me along with my birth plan. People said a birth plan is pointless cuz they dont bother to look at it...well I had no troubles so maybe the chocolate did the trick!
Good luck!
