Just wondering if anyone has had a DVD player installed in their car after purchase. I am buying a used car (Toyota Sienna) form a private owner and I would like to go somewhere and have a DVD player installed. We already own a portable car DVD player that attaches on the back of the seats, however every bump we hit scratches the DVD and one side does not work sometimes. We think it would be better to have one installed in the ceiling that he cannot touch or kick. Any suggestions, pros, cons; on kinds to buy and where to go to get it installed would be great. Thank you in advance.

We installed a DVD player after market in the ceiling and used a company down south that was ABSOLUTELY wonderful. I have their info I believe in the car and it is to dark to see out there. If you really want the info email me later and I will dig it up for you. They come to you anywhere you are and install it. Very professional, and neat and never had any problem. ____@____.com

Hi A.. The only problem I have had is the same one that Tina talked about; you have to tune it in through the cars stereo and sometimes if you loose the signal while traveling you have to find another station. Compared to the problem you have with the portable DVD, I think installing one would be the better option. I live in Cheyenne and had mine installed through a local audio company here.

Hi A.,

I had one installed last summer from Circuit City. Really I have not had a single complaint with this purchase, it has only been positive. I know that CC is going out of business so I don't know what that means as far as getting the entire thing done there. I do know however when I priced things out, at the time, Car Toys was hundreds of dollars more for the system and the install. So you might want to put sometime into comparing prices. It might be worth popping over to CC and seeing if you can get a great deal with their Going Out of Business sale. Good Luck! Happy Shopping!

We had a DVD system installed after market on my past car. It was horrible. You had to find a FM station to play it on and when traveling, you would loose the signal so then you would have to find another station. I just purchased a new car with the factory installed DVD system. I will never buy after market again.

Take time to shop and don't rush yourself. We went to an Entertainment center in Vernal and rushed through a purchase and after 500 dollars I am regretting our purchase. We originally purchased one that was going to set under our dash but upon investigating the car I realized that it would not work. The day we arrived for installation the installer talked me into an upgraded version that would replace the radio in the dash. The first thing I realized was that we would lose our tape player. That was not a big issue as we really don't listen to cassette tapes but as I was wanting to program my radio stations I realized that there was no way to do this. Every time I want to switch radio station you have to tune it in manually. It will play DVD nicely but you really need to figure your priorities first and then search for the type of DVD player you want. The installation was nicely done but I regret the limitations that I now have upon myself with my new radio. A second thought reminds me that the radio does not tune in as nicely as the factory radio. There is more static and more interference. Good luck. I hope this helps.
