Car Seat Help - Bolingbrook,IL

My son is growing up fast and I need to get a convertible car seat for him. I either can afford 1 Britax carseat or 2 less expensive car seats. My question is this, my father watches my son every day while I go to work, so I would need to either take the Britax out of my car every day and put it back when I pick him up, or go with a cheaper alternative and just buy one for my dad to keep. Is the Britax easy to get in and out of the car or is it a hassle?

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

I really like the carseat I have. It's the Evenflo Triumph. It's so cozy and my son seems so comfortable in it. I actually picked this one because I read a mom's review that she had gotten into an accident where she flipped the car and her son was perfectly fine. This seat goes for about $130, much less than the Britax. I hope this helps.

When I started researching convertiable car seats I looked at consumer reports and in their report the very close second(after the roundabout)was the Evenflo Titan. I bout the non deluxe version at walmart for around $60. Online I only saw the deluxe and its about $75, well within your budget right?

I really love this car seat and I would buy it again if I needed too.
I hope this helps.

I think it depends on your situation but honestly, I could not imagine taking the car seat everyday and too many times I would get to work and the sitter would call because I forgot to leave one for her so I just bought her one of her own.

We have a Britax Roundabout for my daughter and it is really easy to transfer between cars. Even I can do it, and I cannot get our other carseat tight enough when I have to install it in a different car. I really like the carseat, though in retrospect I probably would have looked more into the Triumph b/c it has excellent safety, comfort and ease of use ratings as well, for much less $.

Like you, we had considered the Britax brands, but after much research we found that the Evenflo Triumph's ratings were as high as the Britax brands at a fraction of the cost. We are extremely happy with ours and I highly recommend it. This way you can get two car seats and not have to worry about transferring the one every day.

We have the latch system in our car so it is easy to move our car seat, but I still think that moving the car seat every day would get old really fast. We have the Evenflo Triumph for our son and it is really easy to use and meets all the safety requirements. Read the reviews on the seats that you are looking at and see what others have to say.

A.,
We looked at the Britax carseats also, but we have two babysitters we needed to buy for also. I did my research and we decided on the Evenflo Triumphs, people have said the straps are confusing, but I havent encountered a problem at all with them. In all the safety ratings I looked at the evenflo's were right up there with the Britax seats but only about 120 dollars each. We love ours, it was the right decision for us. I hope this helps! I am sure any seat you pick it will turn out just fine, go with your gut on these things, that is what we did

We had the Britax Marathon for my 2 children. Most days we or their sitter had to move the seats, but with the LATCH System it took only 30 seconds or so per seat (and I am not at all handy with these types of things!) The Britax carseats do get superb ratings compared to most other convertible carseats. The ease in cleaning them, the way it comfortably positions the children, the ease of changing the seats' harness as the children grew are just some of the other advantages.

We found them cheaper on-line via www.epinions.com - In my opinion, carseats was not an area we wanted to save money in considering the importance of it and the daily use the seats got. Good luck!

I REALLY like the Graco Comfortsport. To me, the Britax are great, but not that much greater to pay more than twice as much as other car seats. The point is to secure the child tightly to the seat. I don't think a Britax, Graco, or Evenflo is going to make THAT much difference in a collision. They are all considered "safe" in the ratings and all constructed very similarly. Buying a new seat and installing it correctly according to the manufacturer are more important, I believe. I'd go with buying the 2 seats by Graco or Evenflo as opposed to the one Britax, because it takes a while to install the seat correctly. If you buy the 2, you can take the time to install them correctly and leave them installed, rather than rushed installs each day. Installing every day would get annoying to me real fast. Just some thoughts. Best wishes to you! :)
