Hi Elizabeth,
Is he in a little-kid booster that uses just the seatbelt? At 2 years old, I would put him back in a 5-point harness seat...

Hi, I have a two year old Son who is currently in a booster type car seat. The most recent problem is that he can now wiggle out of the seat belt and either sits on his knees on the car seat or wiggles all the way out of it. This is scary and I know that if I am involved in an accident, he will be badly injured if not killed. Have any of you had similar problems with the car seat your Baby/Toddler has used/is using? Is there a way to place the seat belt a little more snug or should I buy another car seat for now? Thank You...
I want to Thank all of you for your responses. Yes, I bought him a carseat with a 5 point harness and will save the one he has now until he is older. We had a 5 point carseat for my older Son, but it got so warn out that I threw it away. I should've known better, but when I bought my younger Son his carseat (transition from backward facing carseat), this one specified that any child 20 lbs. to 80 lbs. could use it. I should have checked into this further. Nicholas just started doing this real recently, so I am so happy for all the other Mama's out there who responded with great concern for my child's safety in mind. Good Job goes out to all of you. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart... :)

elizabeth,
hi! at two years old, he should still be in a forward facing car seat...not a booster yet! the car seat will have a 5 point restraint to keep him in place. it is the safest thing--from the american academy of pediatrics web site: Booster seats are for older children who have outgrown their forward-facing car safety seats. Children should stay in a booster seat until the adult seat belts fit correctly (usually when a child reaches about 4' 9" in height and is between 8 and 12 years of age). http://www.aap.org/FAMILY/carseatguide.htm
hope this helps!

I have a seat with a 5 point harness and my 2 year old still wiggles out of it. She pushes the middle clip down and takes her arms out. I have to tell her she is going to get something to put it back on because I can't reach back there. I think some kids, the touchy feely kind like mine, just find ways to do things other kids just accept.
Good luck, I will be watching responses on this one!

I am sure MANY moms will respond to this...but I felt I had to PRONTO. It is illegal to have a 2 year old in a booster seat. The child needs to be in a convertable CAR SEAT. You do not put a child in a booster until they are 4 yrs. old and 40 pounds. Please get to Target right now (and leave the 2 yr.old home) and but the correct car seat for your child.
He obviously is too young for a booster if he doesn't understand that he needs to stay buckled! I'd buy another car seat that straps him in so he can't get out! It may be a pain financially but can you imagine how you would feel if you did get into an accident and he was killed? All because you failed to take action and get him strapped tight! It's not worth it. Go and buy a seat IMMEDIATELY and get him strapped back into safety! I didn't move my 6 year old to a booster seat till he was 4 and my daughter is 2.5 and she's still in a car seat also. They are both tall children, so physically, they could've been in boosters early, but emotionally and mentally, they were not mature enough to know that they shouldn't wiggle out of their belts. Good luck.
I recommend the Britax Regent car seat. It's a little pricey but has a 5 point harness and can hold a child up to 80 lbs so you can use it for a few years. My 4-year old still uses hers and I plan to keep her in it until she maxes out on the height and weight requirments. A car seat with a 5 point harness is the safest thing for little kids.
