The alpha omega elite car seat is a good one. I bought the alpha omega for my daugther and then the elite when I had my son. It goes from 5lbs - 100lbs. I love this car seat!

I did some research when I bought the carseat that I currently use with my daughter. I settled on a convertible carseat made by Cosco. My favorite detail about this seat (other than the fact that it will easily convert to become her booster seat when the time is right) is the fact that is has two little red handles on the front top that you use to adjust the shoulder strap height. No more taking the seat out of the vehicle, unthreading the straps and rethreading them in the next up slot. Now, as she grows, I just turn the handles and lift and her shoulder straps and head rest area move up. I can even do this with her sitting in the seat and strapped in as long as the straps are loose and haven't been tightened yet.
I haven't had any problems with her seat at all and she will be 3 in June. We have been using it for almost 2 years. I can't remember the exact model of carseat, though I know it is in the Alpha Omega series. You can also find similar style seats made by Eddie Bauer (the 3-in-1 series of convertible car seats).
I hope that was helpful.

I suggest a seat that still reclines. It was very hard for my daughter to be in her seat comfortable when we changed to the "big seat".(so we exchanged it for a different one.) Also make sure that the seat will allow her to still be in it whens shes a toddler. That way you get the most for your money. Graco and Evenflo make really nice ones.

I just got recommendations from a car seat tech... and did hours of research on my own also. I found that Britax is the best of the best. (For those who say one car seat is as good as the next, they haven't researched european seats/laws/construction). I however, can't afford a britax, so I did the next best option. I got a Fisher Price Safe Embrace Convertible seat. It's manufactured by Britax, but doesn't have all the bells and wistles. It does have the EPS foam, the strong construction and will fit rear-facing up to 33lbs and forward facing up to 55lbs. It's a bargin compared to the $250 Britax Marathan, at $180 in stores, but you can find it for $130 online. Which is how I purchased mine.

Good luck in your search...

I swear by the Alpha Omega Elite I think it's made by Cosco. I know Baies-R-Us, Sears, and Target have it for sure and I think I saw it at Meijers or Wal-Mart. It is so comfortable and easy to use, too! My son used to put up a fight about getting into his seat, but now that we have that one he climbs right in!

I like the alpha omega!!! It is very compty for my daughter and I will never have to buy another carseat!! It goes from rear facing to buster seat, it is a little pricy but in the long run you save money good luck. Let us know what you go with.

I just got a Britax Decathlon. I really like it. It was a little expensive, but worth it. A lot of people recommended the Britax Marathon to me. But the Decathlon had a few more options that I liked.

One thing to look for is how long will you be able to use this next car seat - the Decathlon will go up to 65 lbs. then my daughter can use a small booster seat, if we need.

Make sure the car seat fits in your car – they have such a high back on them. And your daughter will have to be rear facing for 6 more months. I did turn my daughter around early. With her turned backwards, I couldn’t see her or help her. I figured I’m going to cause an accident just trying to give her a bottle or see why she’s crying or something.

Good luck…
