I have the Britax brand for my two- and three-year olds. I love them. They have very high safety ratings, are easy to install, are comfortable for the kids, and are easy to keep clean. The brand is one of the more expensive ones, but they've been worth it to me. Good luck!

HI M.,
I read what the others wrote. We have two car seats (one for each car). And you can probably guess which two we have... Britax Roundabout and the Evenflo Triumph. Consumer Reports did rate the Evenflo as #1, I believe and the Britax was #2 or #3. I think either would be great. I wanted the more expensive one for my car and my husband gets the Evenflo. Hope that helps.

I love our Britax Roundabout. It was very simple to fit in the car and my 10 month old son LOVES it. He can see easily out of the windows and has plenty of space. Straps are easy to adjust too. I would definitely buy another one if I ever need a second car seat.

M.,
I highly recommend Britax seats. I believe you could use the Roundabout and the Marathon models. I have used Britax for 8 years now. Check them out on the web. I think it's Britax.com. Graco has bad ratings for safety.

I did a lot of research and finally purchased the Britax Decathlon. It received high consumer safety ratings and has a very plush seat. My daughter loves it. She falls asleep in the seat on long rides and her head never "slumps" over. It is expensive- we paid $269.00. But my daughter is priceless! Another good thing about this seat- it goes up to 65lbs. Most covertible seats only go up to 40 lbs

I have 3 and 5 year old boys. The car seat we purchased 4 years ago for my oldest was a Cosco. It was the smallest 5 point harness seat available at babies-r-us, inexpensive and had one of the highest safety ratings on the market.

We had a Jetta at the time and needed a small car seat. It has been durable, easy to install and uninstall, and space-saving. My 3 year old has had two good years in it so far.

It isn't fancy, (no cup holders or excessive cushioning) but it fills the bill quite nicely.

Good luck with your search. It is great when they can finally face forward. Happy birthday to yur little one!

I sent out the same request a few months ago when my daughter was turning one........It is hard to choose, I know.
After reading the Consumer Reports on which scored highest in crash test ratings and peoples recomendations we chose the Evenflo Triupmh5 and we are extremely happy with it. It locks the child in secure so you know it is tight enough, and since it goes from 5-20 rear facing and 20-40 forward, we will probably use it for the next baby. We got it at Babies R Us for $119.00. Here is a link to the one we got

We just got the evenflo Triumph and are very happy with it. We looked at the Britax (100$ more then the one we bought) and the sales person couldn't tell us why it is supposedly better. The bonus is that the evenflo can recline to four positions easily for comfort. Good luck!

Hi M.,

We bought Britax Marathon some time ago and are very happy with it. Our daughter is 1.5 years old now but when we got the seat she was about 8 months old. She absolutely loves it!

The store we got it from is The Right Start on Clybourn.

Hope this helps.

There are tons of great car seats out there, but you really need to consider the type of car you have. Not one seat is good for every car. Be sure to consider the height and weight of your child as well. Popularity doesn't always mean that it's the best for you. Some local police departments offer child seat inspections to make sure you have installed it correctly. Install it before you go and make sure to bring all parts and instructions. Good luck!

Hi M.,
We had the Evenflo Triumph 5 (purchased from Babies 'r Us). After much research, this one seemed like the best & safest one available. We were very happy with it and it was difficult to let go of it when it was time to get a toddler seat(height limit is 40 inches). Many people recommend Britax but I thought the Evenflo was better (and cheaper). But you'll have to find something that will work right in your car so don't throw out the box or receipt when you get one just in case you have to return it.

I like the Britax Roundabout too. We also recently got a Britax Marathon for my 2 1/2 year old because she is big for her age and the Roundabout only goes up to 40 lbs. The Marathon goes up to 60 lbs., which might be a consideration if your little one is on the big side.

We used a Graco Comfort Sport and liked it. Be aware though, that some of the models have really inferior padding (like styrofoam!) and others have more plush padding. Make sure to pull back the cover on the floor model and check before purchasing.

Hi, I think the Britax are the most popular. They are a little more expensive, however the straps are very easy to loosen and tighten (important when you switch from big to lightweight coats on a regular basis) and they have excellent safety ratings.
