Caregiver Needed This Fall (Mid/end of August)

Our caregiver is going back into the business world after two wonderful years. We have become friends and she will forever be in our lives. However, this leaves our family without a safe person to spend time with our youngest during the day.

My family has been very lucky to have found our last two caregivers here on Mamasource. Both woman are great and we were so pleased to have gotten to know them.

We will only need two days a week, since the baby will be in school two days a week. I will also need periodic days when the other children have days off for teacher institute days and such. All the days will be known in advance so this is a very flexible part-time job. Children sick days covered would be awesome also. Major holidays and summers are free since I am off at the same time as the kids.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, or if you know a college student or grandmother, please let me know. We would love to talk to you.

We live in Elmwood Park. We have three children 7, 5, and 3. Hours are Monday and Friday 7:30-3:30(at the latest)and the occasional "no school" day.

Thank you in advance.

Hello J.,

My name is Edrene Smith. I have Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays available. I am retiring from Wright College after 20 years. While I have not updated my resume to include my childcare accomplishments, I can let you know briefly that I had my own daycare home with 13 children, had 3 of my own, have 5 wonderful grandchildren, and was a Saturday night sitter for four+ years for north shore attorneys who had three delightful children.

I am energetic, playful, and education-minded. I follow directions and can adjust to different parenting techniques. I feel my job is to support you and make your life easier when leaving your children. You can be confident that I will protect them from harm, strangers and potential accidents. I will apply your dietary concerns. I can adapt to your discipline measures. I am acutely aware of the developmental differences in each child as well as the birth-order factor, i.e. the middle child needs different attention than the oldest, and "baby".

My daughter, Sarah, who is a doula, connected me with Mamasource recently. I had looked at sitter city and thought that with so many looking; I would fall to the bottom of the list.

When I saw your ad, I wanted to respond immediately. This is why I do not have a formal resume. I hope you will understand.

You can reach me by cell phone, ###-###-####. Thank you.

Edrene Smith

Hi J.:

We were lucky enough to have my sisters caring for our son for the first three years. Now one of my sisters has moved out of state. I was totally stressed out about how I was going to find a trustworthy, dependable, loving caregiver for part-time. Believe it or not, I found a college student, who helped us this summer, on Craig's List. I recently found our newest nanny on www.care.com. There are a few other nanny sites that I am aware of - www.enannysource.com and www.sittercity.com and www.teachercare.com. These sites all do background checks for you. Before you pay the membership fees, you can sign up and at least see the nannies to determine if there are any interesting ones in your area. In order to contact them you have to pay for membership. There is another site that is something like "barefoot college students" which could be useful if you are in the vicinity of a college. I know the search isn't easy! Good luck!!
