T.,
Before you make a decision, please visit Central Carpet Wholesale on 8mile Rd just west of Lahser (east of Telegraph). I bought carpet for my basement from there when I was price shopping. The employees are long term, knowledgeable, friendly.. from the store itself, which is totally unlike other carpet stores. No salesmen to swarm you, it's not overwhelming... just a great old fashioned business where people know their stuff. When the guys came to lay the carpet, they were so quick, friendly, clean, polite, and professional that I was bowled over.
Since that first experience, every other room that needed new carpet in each new home has been through Central Carpet Wholesale. It's really tough to do anything on a budget and feel confident that you're getting a good product at a good price. I wish you luck with your search.
Happy Mother's Day

PS.... I can't believe I left out the price! lol... That's what drew me to them in the first place. The price for the carpet and installation, I was also carpeting a basement, was so low I had to have her redo it twice because I thought she made a mistake and didn't want any surprises later. I did choose a carpet they had on site which helped with immediate timing and price, but their prices overall are incredibly competitive.
