Carseat Carriers & Fitting into Plane Seats

I have a Roundabout and have taken it on airplanes several times. It definitely fits in the seat. I also have a bag with a shoulder strap for carrying the seat through the airport, but it is very heavy. If you've seen the wheels that can make it into a stroller, I'd really recommend that, no matter the cost, because pushing a regular stroller, carrying a carry-on and the car seat, is a lot for 1 person! I have the Britax Roundabout and have flown numerous times on almost every airline without any problems. Call the airline 800# that you'll be flying for additional details.

We have this same car seat and have flown American, United and Air Jamica and it fits just fine. My husband just loosened the straps and put it on his back like a backpack thru the airport. No need for a carrier, etc. Hope this helps!

Hi, this isn't exactly advice on the Britax (I have that one too, but I haven't used it on plane). However, we took a trip to Europe when my daughter was 5 months old. We didn't bring her carseat because British Airways offered a baby "cot" that attached to the bulkhead area. When we booked, we told them that we were traveling with an infant and they arranged it for us. My daughter slept in it without a problem.

Many transatlantic airlines offer such item. When my daugther was not sleeping, she was in my lap or my husbands. We were also given a "seat belt" that went around my daughters waist and attached to my seat belt. This was used for most of the flight when we were seated. It's madatory to use it for take off and landing.

Yikes! I am actually no help but we are going to Cananda in a few weeks with my 11 month old and I also have a Britax. I would love if you could pass along any info about it fitting into the airplane seat. I did travel with my son at 9 months and he was able to use his infant seat still. It fit just fine. Not sure if your baby can still fit in his/her infant seat but it was really easy, especially since we had it able fit into the stroller frame.

Have you heard of a "Sit and Stroll"? Basically it's a car and FAA-approved care seat that turns into a stroller. The wheels and handle fold up inside when it's a car seat. We travel frequently with both of our kids and have 2 of them. The kids find them very comfortablea and it's very light weight. We have never had to lug a separate car seat and stroller and they're great for cabs/rental cars. I highly recommend it. Not the car seat or stroller you would want to use every day but excellent for travel. I think they work up to 40 pounds. I think there's a new one for infants <20 pounds now. You can buy them from many sites on the internet for about $200 (just google Strolex sit-n-stroll)- worth every penny! Good luck.
