I have an alarm clock CD player in my daughters room-- its great b/c I can see what time it is in the middle of the night:)
I want to purchase a cd player for the baby's room - for herclassical and baby einstein. What do you recommend?
Thank you all for your responses! I wrote the question thinking it was a silly request but you gave me answers that I wouldn't even think about. I bought an inexpensive little boom box with quiet buttons and the "repeat" function. I loved the suggestions for music too! I'm keeping them in mind for my little sweet pea!

I have a CD player that's from The First Years and clips right to the side of the crib. The function buttons and cd area face the outside of the crib and the part that faces inside has a night light. I used it for all three of my kids and it still works great.
I just got my son a CD player for Easter! I got it from Walmart and I think I spent around $25. It's very durable and sporty looking and it also has a inport for an MP3 player....I thought that was important so he can still use it trough his teen years. I have been playing African lullabies that came all the way from South Africa when Gramma was traveling over Christmas....very soothing!
I think it's a wonderful thing to bring music to your baby's room. We used to put on a few albums that my son still loves today (and is trying to play on the piano...he's 9 now). His favorite: Christifori's Dream by David Lanz. Also loved: Mike Rowland, And So To Dream; Danny Wright, Phantasys; anything by George Winston (all of his seasons albums); anything by David Lanz (he's got quite a few out, including a Christmas album); the Mozart Effect (there are three or four of these). These aren't all "classical", so to speak, most are new age piano, but if you give them a chance, you can decide for youself. My son loved them to go to sleep to.
Cudos to you, for bring music to your child so soon!
Buy an inexpensive portable CD player that plugs into the wall (to save on Batteries). Also, see if it has repeat that way you can keep it on all night. My son sleeps with it every night and he is about to turn 6. The repeat is a god send.
Try freecycle.org or the Dollar Store, I got one for my little ones to listen to Noah Ark stories and Veggie Tales CD's. It is a great idea for when mom needs a time out and to entertain the little ones!!!
Good Luck!
I recieved mine from target just for that purpose and I love it, it was only $20. Just a suggestion buy the Celine Dion, Lullaby, CD it is wonderful for trying to get little ones to sleep and it's a beautiful melody it makes you want to cry while you listen!
I registered for a cd player for our shower, I got an RCA cd/cassette/radio player. It is nice to have to play the baby einstein to help lull her to sleep, BUT, believe it or not the buttons press loudly! I know that may sound wierd but it is true. if i try to turn it off or replay it I have to push a button. This is a pretty loud click. So test that out in the stores. I know The First Years makes one that you can hook to some cribs, but I don't know the quality. My daughter stays with my mom while I am at work and she has an underwater theme music "thing" that attaches to the crib and my daughter LOVES it. it plays music and she plays with it until she falls right asleep. Good luck and sweet dreams.
I bought one (well then it was a cassette player)for our kids when there were babies it was really neat. I think it was Fisher Price, and they were able to turn it on and off by pushing large buttons--red for off, green for on! They both used it as babies and until they went to school! Not sure if you can find it now--that was over 10 years ago.
