Cd's (Or Dvd's) That Will 'Shake Our Sillies Out'

I don't think you even need a dvd to "shake the sillies out" my son is 10 months old. He prefers certain songs but he will "dance" to regular radio music. If they see you doing it they will do it too. We dance in the kitchen every night while i make dinner.

My kids loved Raffity and my granddaughter loves anything Elmo. I also ordered her a Bindi the jungle girl dance dvd. It is full of the little dances she does with the crockmen on her show. It is a favorite dvd of my granddaughter who is 2. She tries to dance like them and has a great time with it. I had to order it off the internet since I don't think it is available here in the states.

The Chenille Sisters have some fun music for kids including the "Ants in You Pants" song. Definitely gets wiggles out.

My 2 year old just loves the Wiggles "you make me feel like dancing" (yes, named after the really old leo sayers song). We sing and dance to all the songs together. Before I had my daughter, I HATED the wiggles, but now I think they're great. All the songs are 'politically correct' they replace words in songs like... in a song about noah's arc, they say Uncle Noah's arc. And in ring around the rosie (morbid in it's original form) they replace 'ashes' with 'a tissue' (I guess maybe posies make you sneeze?). Plus, I really dig some of the older music, disco and beatles style and such. They even have a song about 'shaking your sillies out'!

We are fans of the Wiggles here. You can probably check their DVDs/CDs out from the library, or get them super cheap on Amazon.com because they're not the latest-greatest anymore. They have very high energy songs, and personally I find them pretty easy to listen to as an adult as well. However, their dance steps are indeed stated in the songs, and even are a little difficult for my 3 1/2 yr old to follow.

I think at that age we just put on Wee Sing CDs and chased each other around the living room with rhythm instruments! Good luck!

There is something called Wiggles that should work for you.

We have always loved "Kids Songs" they have many different themes (i.e. dogs, beach, trucks, farm animals, zoo etc.) We had bought them at Walmart for $1.00 piece but it has been a couple of years you can find them online I'm sure. The whole series is based on popluar song, kind of music videoes for kids; My 2 and 5 year olds love them!!!

I agree with the Laurie Berkner DVDs! I also have a couple of Yoga Kids DVDs and they are super, too!

LAURIE BERKNER! She has or used to have stuff on Noggin. She sings and plays guitars while kids dance around. It is kinda catchy, so it shouldn't annoy you. I got a DVD/CD combo a few years ago at Target for about $14. It was called "We are...the Laurie Berkner Band". My kids LOVED it, and still do!

My daughter loves a Raffi CD she has. For alot of the songs we make up our own dances. He does have a shake your sillies out song and the hokey pokey.

I agree with the previous poster about Laurie Berkner. My kids love her DVD's and it always gets them up and running around and moving. Also, there is a CD called Kids in Motion that is very fun too.

I have a 2 CD set from Brite Music called Watch Me Sing. It's ALL action and imagination music: fun to listen to and even more fun to act out. Feel free to contact me if you want more information.

I am right there with you on the TV/DVD time. I have a 6, 4 and 2 year old. They LOVE the Sesame Street dance videos (especially Grover's and Zoe's, but they do like the Elmo one, too). YogaKids videos from Gaiam are WONDERFUL. There are some decent videos called Mommy and Me, too. I tell them when I put the DVD in that if they sit down and watch instead of participate, we'll turn it off and go do something else. They are always eager to participate. Other times I will put in a new kind of music, and give them a little direction. Putumayo has some great CD's. The New Orleans cd is a good one for "marching bands". The Hawaiian Playground is great for Hula. And my kids love the Rumba Flamenco. Also, Simon Says is a great game!

My favorite is Laurie Berkner. She has 4 or 5 CD's out. Her songs are very unique and catchy. Another good one that I just discovered is Lisa Loeb. She has a kids CD out called Camp Lisa and the kids think it's hilarious. Check out your local library and see what kinds of videos/CD's they have there. It's a good way to switch up your playlist regularly without paying for it! Dance away!

My son loves Laurie Berkner CD's. His favorite is "Whaddaya Think Of That". He loves that dinosaur song and we march around the kitchen and sing it (even my husband!!).

I love dancing along to the wiggles with my sons! I also love Raffi cd's.

Look for some "Wiggles" DVDs.

We have the Imagination Movers CD and our 23 month old son loves dancing to the tunes! They tell the kids what to do...for example...jump up, down to the ground, straight up, turn around, drum on your knees, run in place etc etc!! His daycare told us about it and all the kids dance to it there.

My children LOVE Hi-5. It is a TV program on discovery kids. They have never seen the program but a neighbor gave us the CD and the kids love it. It totally gets them moving, even I start dancing with them.

Laurie Berkner!!!!!!!

Definitely second any of the Wiggles CD/DVD's. We also have Silly Songs from Veggie Tales, which is a half hour DVD and even my 1 year old dances to it. My neighbor just got the coolest thing: it's a dance camera that you hook up to your TV and it films you while you dance, so you see yourself dancing on the tv with their background. It's by Playskool, they have only 8 songs on it, but her 3 year old loves it, and my two boys were over there dancing (4 and 1) yesterday. She said you can also hook up your iPod to it; it won't give you a dancing dog whose moves you're supposed to follow, but it does give you more songs to dance to. She said it was a gift, but it was like 35 dollars at Target.

My kids dance with the Wiggles and Barney. Barney drives me a bit batty, but my daughter especially likes it.

There are shows (DVDS) by the Jim Hensen Co. that are little work outs with important lessons. The one I have is called Spring Jams, or something like that. We found it pretty cheap and our Alco. It has kids do warm ups and little workouts and cool downs and they are pretty fun. My 4 and 2 year olds like to follow along. I'm always pretty impressed with anything the Jim Hensen Co. does.

Curious Buddies Let's Move! It is the best DVD ever! My son loves it he dances and sings along with all the songs. I like it cause it has a lot of kids in the video for him to fallow along with!
