Cell Phone Provider Recommendations

I really like verizon. We have had it for years and really like the service we get with them. we don't really lose reception and get it in places we didn't with sprint when we had it.

If coverage is an issue, Verizon by far has the best coverage. My husband covers Northern MN and North Dakota and Verizon has been the best for us. Plus they not only have the in network but also friends and family.

We have had U.S. Cellular for at least 10 years and we have NEVER had a problem with them as a carrier before!! Currently we just bought new phones on a buy one get one free program. With the phones that we have, because they are not Smartphones, we do have to pay an extra $20 a month per phone, but if you get the Smartphones, like the Blackberry or Windows Mobile, then the unlimited mobile comes with the phone, I believe, but please do not quote me on that.

We have been on Verizon for 6 years and love it. No dropped calls, excellent service and the perfect plan for us. We have just renewed our two year plan and we got great phones for free - not iphones, but pretty close.

I currently have t-mobile but just switched from Verizon. It really depends on how many minutes you use. We didn't use many minutes and we were spending something like $70 a month with Verizon which was a complete waste. We choose t-mobile specifically because they had the best pay as you go plan.

Coverage for both has been fine (I live in Woodbury) and actually I get better reception with t-mobile where I work. I guess if coverage is an issue like the other post mentioned, I would look at both of their coverage areas on their websites.

K. - I've had Verizon for years and am very happy. I do have some issues in my home where my cell phone cuts out but that seems to be the only location. They have great customer service in both the stores and calling them with questions and changes.

My only wish is that the iphone be available on Verizon. :)

I have been with Alltel (now merged with Verizon) for a long, long time and I LOVE it. They have amazing customer service, no dropped calls, great sound quality, and the price is also very good. The best thing about Verizon/Alltel for me is that they have amazing coverage - even when we go camping WAY out in the wilderness, I have nearly always had coverage. As a single mom traveling with a child, that is important to me. The plan is also less expensive than other plans that I have looked at (though I don't use texting at all). I don't have a landline and use my cell for everything - and it's still not bad. Much less than I was paying for a landline with Qwest. Go figure.

I had Verizon at the beginning of the year and now I'm with TMobile.

Here's a few pro's/con's

I lose/drop calls ALL the time with Tmobile. I live in Burnsville and sometimes have NO bars in my house.I dropped a call the other day driving down 169 in the Edina/Eden Prairie area.

I like the customer service/sales associates alot better with Tmobile.

I like that TMobile has your fave five. So I can pick my favorite 5 people and it's unlimited calls/minutes to them. Well I really only rack up the minutes and talk my butt off with a few people so this works wonderfully. I text alot and it's been the better company out of all for texting in my opinion I'm constantly snapping photo's of my kids, texting them out or whatnot.

Now with Verizon it's 10 people you can pick for your unlimited calls/minutes but you have to pick 10 people for your entire plan so if you and your husband have a phone and a teenage child the 3 of you would have to share the 10 spots it goes by account not each phone line.I didn't like that part.

We are currently with Verizona and I love it! When we lived in Omaha, we had Cingular/AT&T. They "were the network with the fewest dropped calls" but I had more dropped calls our first week with them than I did the previous 3 years with Verizon. Also, we don't use a whole lot of our minutes because most of the people we call have Verizon. Same thing with texting. You can add unlimited texting to your plan for like $10 a month, so it's not a bad price at all. As far as coverage, in ND Verizon has the best coverage in my opinion. There's a few spots where we sometimes lose signal, but we're not there very often so it's not an issue. Before moving to Omaha, we lived in MPLS and loved the coverage we had with Verizon. I have no experience with T-Mobile, so can't help you out with that side of it. Good luck choosing!

I suggest going online and looking for deals there. I will never go to the mall or a local store to upgrade or change providers. We got an awesome deal with Letstalk.com. I would check there first and see if any of the plans they offer would work with your needs. Online providers seem to offer more flexiblity so you can almost customize you plan.

We had Verizon for a long time (4 or 5 years) and then switched to T-Mobile at the beginning of the year.

You have to really look at where you will be using the phones and what coverage they have. We had great coverage with Verizon UNTIL we drove in our neighborhood. We would have no signal at all from our house and any where farther east (near Taylors Falls).

Now, we have great coverage in our house with T-Mobile(which we love because we cut the landline phone out of our budget).

I do have a few more dropped calls anywhere else we drive to. Although, we get better service with T-Mobile while driving through WI than Verizon. They had huge holes.

We have spotty service in Indiana regardless of what provider we have.

Check the maps and call each provider. We love the MyFaves, but it looks like Verizon now has something similar.

One last thing, with Verizon you have to dial a special number to relocate towers and T-Mobile suggests that you shut your phone off and then turn on again to relocate towers.
