Cervical Discharge During Pregnancy

Moms, I KNOW this is going to sound crazy. If you don't follow a "charting method" (ie - Taking Charge of Your Fertility), please feel free to ignore this question!

For the rest of you - I have been charting for several years, watching my temperature and cervical fluid. (Yes, I know I'm missing one of the steps - I got pregnant when I wanted to, and didn't when I didn't..so it worked out alright for me.) Here's my question: I've noticed that my cervical fluid is STILL following a more-or-less regular (ie- pre-pregnancy) pattern, even though I am currently 8.5 months pregnant. (Fluid levels go up and down, and go through all the regular changes - lotiony, creamy, sticky, wet...no egg-white, though) Did anyone else notice this during their pregnancy?

If you DID notice it - did you notice a correlation between your "mucous cycles" and when you went into labor? I'm due in a week and a half, and I was a week early with my first daughter...so I'm just trying to test out a theory here!

What can I do next?

I charted in the same way using the same book and have 3 perfect (ha!) kids. But I stopped charting the day I hit 18 days of high temperatures. When I went to the dr for my first appt with my first pregnancy, they couldn't understand how I knew I was pg - I told them I had had 18 high temps and they looked at me like I was from another planet! Anyway, I did not continue to check fluid on a regular basis, but had become so aware that I certainly knew when I had lost my mucous plug- ick. That was about 2 weeks before I delivered my twins (who were induced at 39 weeks). I wish I could be more helpful - I wish more want-to-be moms would read the book! Good luck and Happy Holidays!

I didn't chart during my pregnancy, but I remember having a significant amount of discharge right before I lost the first part of my mucus plug. It was enough to make me call the midwife! Over those next two weeks I had a lot, and then went into labor.

Don't know if that helps much. But in any case- you're almost there!!!

Good luck, and may you have a fast, easy, and smooth labor and delivery!

congrats on your pregnancy. Discharge is fairly common during pregnancy. I know my SIL complained of having quite a bit of discharge. I don't remember having quite so much, but I wasn't completely dry down there. Unfortunately, I stopped charting when I was pregnant (It was like a vacation from charts). If you are really concerned, talk to your obgyn or midwife.

Best of luck!

I never kept that close track of my mucous cycle but I did observe all the various types at different times. I noticed that the while I was pregnant the discharge was pretty much sililar to the non-ovulation mucous but there was more in the middle and later parts of the pregnancy. I am also due with my second baby in late December. I haven't noticed anything significant recently. My first son was born 4 days after the due date but I had a horrible cold and was too distracted but the mucous clogging my sinuses to be paying attention to the other kind. I lost my mucous plug right at the beginning of labor--maybe 6-8 hours before I was feeling definite contractions.

Hope you have a smooth and easy delivery!
