It is required by our school district. It primarily is meant to prevent over crowding. Prevent kids going home with friends without permission. And for disciplinary reasons. We had kids who would miss a bus several streets over and run to my kids stop. The bus was a full capacity bus so not everyone could sit with the extra kids. If you registered it was probably in the student handbook and they are following the rules.

I bet your daughter remembers her cell daily--put the cell and bus pass together...

Our schools don't provide a school bus for jr. high students unless parents buy a seat because at that age most kids can take public transportation. For this reason I expect they would need to show a bus pass.

Our school district does check bus passes but has a policy to take any child, with or without a pass, TO the school. They will refuse to take them home without a current pass. The idea is to get the child to a safe location (school) and they warn the child to buy a duplicate pass or to call a parent for a ride home.

Never heard of it being done that way. Part of me get's why they do it, but at this point you'd think the bus driver would have recognized her...rules are rules though.

When we were in Mesa, my daughter rode the city bus. The bus system there was great and she had no problems. She messed up her grades and we told her to find a way to get to summer school and she did.
