Change in Clothing Size at 6 Months Pregnant?

Yes, I agree, call the company and ask, but if in doubt, it is fairly easy to take a dress in, but if it's too small the options are limited, so go bigger than you think you need.

I'm not sure about what size to order for her, but I was in a wedding once where one of the other bridesmaids was pregnant. The seamstress that altered some of our dresses was able to use the fabric from my dress, which had to be taken in, to add room in the belly of our friend's dress. If your SIL's dress doesn't fit in the belly, that might be an option. Or since your SIL's dress is floor length, she might be able to change the length of the dress (perhaps making it tea length) and use that extra fabric to add space in the belly. Just a thought.

I was in a wedding last year where me and my sister-in-law were both expecting. We ordered the dresses thru David's Bridal. We were able to exchange dresses up until a month before the wedding (maybe - I don't remember exactly how long before the wedding). I know they suggest 2 sizes larger than what you currently are. That didn't hold true for me though - I went 3 sizes larger (that was my second pregnancy and I ended up getting huge!). I was about 6 months along the day of the wedding as well. Just remember with alterations you can always take out material but you can't add it back in......Good Luck!!!

My SIL ran into this. She got married when my son was 7 months old. She also had another friend that was pregnant. In the end, even with alterations our dresses never fit well or right. There was no way to guess. The dresses were empire waist. I was breastfeeding and working on toning and weight loss, she was of course growing. We were both so happy to change after the wedding and pictures! Neither of us could get out of the dresses fast enough for the reception.
I have seen maternity bridesmaid dresses, I would highly recommend looking at those instead of trying to buy up a couple sizes on a regular dress. Buying a dress that is big all over when you only need it in the breast and belly leaves a lot of extra where you don't need it and there is only so much they can take it in.

Speak to the people you are ordering the dress from. They definitely deal with this often. I would do whatever they say.

I would order a different one for her-for example if your other ones are form fitting just go with one with an empire waist, but make sure it is still the same length and color.

Defintely check with the place supplying the dresses. How much can it be altered? Is it simple enough to alter easily so that if you do get a bigger size, it can be done or does it have a lot of detail that would cause a problem? I went down in size as my pregnancy progressed. Obviously, my belly got bigger but I looked ridiculous in some shirts that were sized up due to the extra material around my arms.
When a friend got married years ago, her cousin was large. They did not even carry her size. They had to buy 2 dresses and sew them together. but they had a really good seamstress to work on it. She herself was pregnant and her dress was simple enough to buy a size bigger but take in around the sleeves and arm holes so she had room.

ETA: still ask but it might work out great. Good for you for letting them get a dress that could be worn again. I would wear something like that and then have it shortened a bit to wear again for something else.

I would order more than 2 sizes up! I was supposed to be a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. I thought I would have had my baby or be 9 months pregnant. If I was still pregnant I wasn't going to do it. So, my friend told me to get a 10, in case I couldn't be in it. Her other friend (who was fine with this) is that size. I thought I would deliver my baby early and would be able to be in the wedding. I got an 8 (I really thought that would be best), so I wouldn't have to alter it too much. I'm normally a 4. Then, my due date got changed and I wasn't able to be in the wedding. I attended as a guest and delivered 4 days after the wedding. Unfortunetly, I didn't listen and then they had to borrow some fabric from another dress and alter the one I got, which her other friend wore. The dresses ran really small and I wouldn't have fit in the 8 post pregnancy at all! If I were you, I'd get the dress 3-4 sizes bigger just in case. It's easier than trying to scrounge up fabric.

I would find out when the latest you can order hers and still get it in time. And then have time to make alterations. Cause you never know how big she could get.
