Currently my son goes to public school and he is in kindergarten. I have been thinking of looking into charter schools for a better education. I went to public school and so I figured he would be good there but I have been noticing that he is a little more advanced then what they are teaching. Anyone have any good recommendations?

What can I do next?

I actually moved my kids from a christian charter to public. There seemed to be more structure in the public school than the charter. The charter seemed to do whatever they wanted and didn't follow the IEP I had in place for my daughter. When she left the charter, by the end of her first year at public, she was on the principals list (straight A's). I think you just need to meet with the teacher and/or principal and get a game plan in place for your child. They have all kinds of resources for these kids. Otherwise, I don't have a suggestion for a charter school for you. Good luck!

Go to www.Greatschools.net and see the ratings of different schools. I believe you can even look up charter schools in your area. I attended a charter junior high/high school and had a positive experience. Being smaller than a typical public school, it had a distinct culture to it.

My son currently attends a charter in Gilbert (San Tan Learning Center) that has a gifted program that my son is in and we're pleased with it. Also, I've heard great things about Zaharis Elementary, a public school in east Mesa with open enrollment, and Edu-prize on Baseline and Stapley, a charter school (it's hard to get in since it's so popular). I've considered homeschooling for the very reason you're looking for a charter, but I've decided to find a good school so there won't be gaps in his education, and then supplement at home with fun learning activities, experiments, and field trips and keep it fun. Edu-prize offers a half-day option (you do lunch and recess at home) that I would love to do so that my kids can do a lot of learning at home with me too. No school is a perfect fit and it can be frustrating (it almost felt like searching for a good spouse). Good luck!

My son went to Noah Webster and I switched him to Gilbert Public which I found to be better overall. But they still weren't challenging him enough so I am now homeschooling. He is now doing awesome and loving learning. Schools just don't have the resources or man-power to provide the individualized learning that our children deserve.

Try Franklin elementary. They have several campuses in Mesa. They tell they are 1 year ahead of public schools.
