Charting Basal Body Temperature

I work 11p.m.-7a.m. Mon-Thurs. I go in to work at 7 am on Saturdays. I was wondering how would I chart my basal body temperature considering my sleeping pattern changes? I was reading that you have to take your temperature at the same time or at least around the same time. How would I do that when I get up at different hours on different days?? Thank you so much for taking the time out to read this.

What can I do next?

Thank you to all that responded. I am going to have to give it a try and order that book. I will let everyone know how things are working out. : )

I think that just temping first this in them morning before you get out of bed will give you a pretty accurate reading no matter what time you you are getting up. What is really important is that the reading is taken after the same amount of sleep each day. Also, if you are using a site like fertilityfriend.com to help you keep track of you numbers it has a section where you can enter notes when something is different from the norm at the time of taking the temperature.

I believe you're supposed to take your temperature when you wake up, and before you get out of bed or even speak! So I don't think the time you get up matters, just that you measure before you move around.

I think you should do it when you wake up, no matter what time that is. Good Luck!

I have the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is great and has a section for people who work the night shift.

Looking at your schedule, it seems as if 7 am would be your best time; unless, your temp needs to be taken after a period of sleep/ rest. I hope all works out for you.

I also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and I also think that what matters is taking it after the same amount of rest, not necessarily the same time of day. So, you should always take it after seven hours of sleep, regardless of when that sleep starts.

Totally Taking Charge of Your Fertility! I believe you only need uninterrupted sleep ~3 hours and then it's OK irregardless of time change.

Good luck:)
