A friend of mine has a son who has a severe allergy to milk. He is ok with soymilk but not regular milk. He wants to try pizza so bad, it is really sad. We are looking for a cheese that is not made with any type of milk other than soy. Most veggie cheeses have milk protein, or are made with a percentage of milk and soy. Does anyone know a brand of veggie cheese that has absolutely no milk in it other than soy so that he can try pizza. It would be so helpful to him.
My aunt orders (doesn't cook much anymore with the kids gone) her pizzas without cheese. You still get all the great vegetable and meat toppings and the pizza sauce. It was OK, since I have mild lactose intolerance, too. So, if it's introduced to him that way, maybe he'll never miss the cheese.
Try "Amy's" brand frozen pizza. She has at least on with soy cheese and no dairy. It is sold at Whole Foods.

There is a way to make a dairy free pizza. Don't put cheese on unless is an alternative to the dairy cheese. I'm not sure if there is such a thing, but search the internet and you might find something. Also, home make the dough. I make home made pizza and my kids love it. When making the dough, you use water. You should be fine. Also check the ingredients of the sauces. This month, they are opening a Trader Joes in Richmond. I don't know if they have one near you, they might. Check out traderjoes.com to see. If so, they have food that is dairy free for making pizza and all kinds of your favorite foods. If there isn't a trader joes, then you might able to find a local store that sells that kind of food. God Bless.
I would suggest taking a look at the Amy's Pizza. I'm pretty sure they make one with soy. You can usually find this brand in Safeway, Giant, Wegmans and Whole Foods.

My mother has serious food allergies, including dairy. She eats pizza on a soy based crust from a mail order company, but I think you can find the crust in a health food store, if wheat is a problem for your little guy. Anyway, she uses goat cheese and loves it. You can shred it and put it on pizza no problem. Give it a try!

Shoppers Food Warehouse and Margruders carry a brand of cheese that is 100% soy. Just ask when you go there. Shoppers has more variety of the brand even shredded.
Hello K.. My son has the same issue he isn't fully allergic to it but has some issues with milk. He eats pizza. I just make it without the cheese and he loves it. When we are out eating I just ask them to make a small pizza without cheese on it. Hope that helps. The crust I make only has flour, oil, water and yeast and salt. So he should be able to have it without the cheese.

This is easy. I'm vegan, so no animal products in my diet. You have several options. Follow your Heart. It comes in Mozerella, Cheddar, and Nacho; in a solid square. Tofutti slices. You can get the Follow your Heart in most health food stores, My Organic Market(MOM's) always carries it, there are no trans fats in it. If you want a really great cheese and are in DC, Sticky Fingers bakery in Columbia Heights carries a log by Chicago Soy Dairy. They also have tons of great vegan treats that your friend's son can enjoy.

David's natural market in Columbia has a totally vegan pizza. The vegan cheese on it has a very similar consistency to regular cheese and I think it tastes pretty good. My friend's daughter is allergic to dairy and peanuts and I buy it for her when we get together or for b-day parties and there is pizza. Also, Roots has a 100% vegan pizza and cheese as well. I think Trader Joes has one as well but I'm not positive as I've never actually purchased one from there but I thought I saw one there the other day. Giant also carries one in their freezer section in the organic section. Don't know how that one tastes though. Good luck.
Both my kids are allergic to milk. Try Follow YOur Heart Soy Mozzerella. You can find it at Whole Foods or Wegmeans. It melts pretty well.
My oldest however doesn't really care for the taste so we do pizzas without cheese. Lots of sauce, sausage and olives and then sprinkle with grated carrots to give it the "look". My son also started taking his own "pizza" to school because all the other kids got pizza on Fridays. I found Weight Watchers brand English Muffins didn't contain milk so I sent that with sauce olives and carrots on the side. He puts it together at school and now feels like one of the gang.

My son has an allergy to milk but I still give him pizza, ice cream, etc. We just don't let him have it every day. I guess it would depend on how serious the boys reaction is to milk. My son just gets cold symptons. I'm sorry I can't recommend a veggie cheese but thought I would say that my son eats those things with no problem just to let you know it is possible. My grandson has a milk allergy and we order his pizza with no cheese and he thinks that is so great.
My best friend growing up was allergic to milk too. She just ordered pizza without cheese. Now she orders pizza with sheeps milk cheese or goats milk cheese. My only other suggestion would to be make your own mozzarella using soymilk.
has your friend looked into goats milk. i know it is milk but i have an allergy to cows milk and so i have to eat goats products.

I'm not sure about your specific question about brands of 100% soy cheese, but I do know that Amy's makes some great frozen pizzas, including at least one variety that is dairy free and uses soy cheese. I've never tried it, but my son has Celiac Disease so we buy Amy's gluten-free pizza (regular cheese, but gluten-free crust!). This -- and all the company's products we've tried -- are high quality and tasty. You can find Amy's at Wegmans, Whole Foods, Bloom, and even many other "mainstream" grocery stores now. Hope this helps. I know first-hand how challenging working around a special diet can be. But in the big scheme of things, it's certainly a surmountable challenge!
My daughter also has a milk allergy and we just found out at age 12 that people who have milk allergies are generally allergic to just cow's milk. We tried goat milk with our daughter and she did not have any reaction at all. Plus, she loves it! It actually tastes like milk. David's Natural Market has goat milk, goat milk butter, goat milk yogurt, goat milk ice cream and goat milk cheese. Hope this helps.

Go to WHOLE FOODS MARKETS large grocery store with MUCH variety and knowledgable staff- I don't know where you live but there is one in Annapolis, Mt. Washington, and Baltimore(fells point/little Italy area. There might be one even closer to you- I'm sure there is a web site.
Or that New huge grocery store Wegmans, in Hunt Valley- I haven't been ther but I'm told it is Fabulous and the variety of specialized/gourmet food is unrivaled. My friend told me the cheese section alone is a store within itself! I am sure either of these places can point you and taste-test you in the right direction.

This may be easier for you: Farm Fresh. They have a huge natural foods section that has frozen pizzas that are dairy free in them. I've had to, one by one, take my kids off all dairy for several weeks at a time to rule out a dairy allergy, so it was important that there be absolutely no diary or dairy proteins in it. I can't remember the brand, but just read the back and you can see what's dairy free.
Their actual dairy section at Farm Fresh actually does contain dairy free cheese, mentioned earlier, the Tofutti slices. Tofutti is my favorite brand of dairy free cheese, it tastes better than your average soy cheese.

I know there are definitely "soy-only" cheeses out there. I would try either Whole Foods or Integral Yoga Natural Foods. Ask a knowledgeable staff member to help you and make them aware of the severity of the milk allergy. Additionally, there are plenty of websites offering these types of products if you don't mind ordering them - specialty foods designed for allergy-sufferers are a hot item right now. I don't think, however, that you will really have to go to the length of ordering them. I am a dietitian and have found them for my clients at the above-mentioned grocery stores!
