P.K.
Joe Scruggs is great! He came to Lewisville High School when my daughter was 5 in 1990. I recently ordered his CD collection for her 15 month old daughter and she loves them as well. He lives in Austin, TX. www.hellojoe.com to order his music.
My four year old has really gotten into music and dancing. He sings along with songs on the radio and loves to bust a move for us! LOL. Anyway- I am looking for a fun children's CD for him to listen to and learn the songs too. Prefer either educational or Christain themed CD's, but anything upbeat and fun that is appropriate for his tender young mind. Thanks!
Wow Ladies! Ya'll are hilarious! THANK YOU so very much. I never would have even known about all the variety of children's music available out there. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share with me. Ya'll are wonderful. God Bless!

I teach Kindermusik and I honestly love all of the cd's that we have. My students absolutely love them too.
Also, I love Skip Ewing and the Big Kidz Band, and David Chicken. My son couldn't stop listening to these when he was younger and they are fantastic.
You can get David Chicken's on his website and I can get you the Skip Ewing or the Kindermusik cd's. If you're interested in knowing more just email me at ____@____.com.
A., many years ago when my boys were little, they LOVED the "Wee Sing" series of VHS tapes (I still have them). They have all the songs we learned as kids: Farmer in the Dell, Wheels on the bus, etc. They are very cute & educational.
You gotta go to gofishguys.com Go Fish are great, and not only do my boys love them, but my husband and I enjoy them too (which is their whole mantra-kids music that doesn't drive the parents bonkers). We have 3 or 4 of their CD's and they are all good. Their most recent one, Snazzy, is very good and won the Dove Award for best children's music album (christian music award). All I can say is, Itsy Bitsy Spider is awesome- it's a hip hop style version of the song you have to hear to believe.
we love the Mr.Ray cd
http://www.mrray.com/
My husband got it as a promo at work and we have been listening to it since my 9 yr old was little. It has a song about the colors of the rainbow, what kids want to be when they grow up, questions(why kids ask so many), an alien and some other fun songs. Plus it's fun enough that my husband and I enjoy listening to it too! And my kids love to sing along with it!

Sesame Street songs, Barney songs, and Veggie Tales come to mind right away.
We use to love listening to Laurie Berkner. She sings great songs and they don't get on your nerves after the billionth time it is played.
Dallas' own Eddie Coker. Fabulous musician as well as children's entertainer. You should definitely check him out!
Our family loves Hillsong Kids and Worship Jamz CD's. We like them because our kids don't get tired of them. We started listening to them when our DD was 4 and DS was 2 and 3 years later they still like the music.
My kids love Go Fish. They start dancing as soon as I turn it on.
I second the recommendations for Laurie Berkner and They Might Be Giants! TMBG have several kids' CDs - "Here Come the ABCs," "Here Come the 123s," and "Here Comes Science" - and maybe one more I'm forgetting. Very educational and very upbeat! Laurie Berkner's are not all educational, but they're fun and age-appropriate.
Seeds of Faith, Seeds of Courage, Seeds of Praise. Great, upbeat Scripture Songs. The songs are Scripture set to catchy tunes. I used these at a private school I worked at for Bible class; the 2 year olds - 8th graders all enjoyed them! I would hear the students singing the songs on the playground, in the bathroom, during PE, etc. Before my husband had major surgery I sang the Seeds of Courage Do Not Be Anxious (Phillipians 4) song to him; it made him smile.
Hi A.,
Check out KiddosDelight.com. We have several different personalized children's music cd's among other children's products. Best of Luck.

Greg and Steve- "We all Live Together Vol. 1-5"
I am a preschool teacher and I use these all the time!!
Have fun.
My children love the Imagination Movers. Their songs all have a pretty good beat and are easy to sing along. Most songs have some kind of educational background like "clean my room", "shakeable you" and the list goes on. It's nice because it's not something that grates on an adults nerves. They have several cd's out and are going on tour soon. They are also on TV, I think Disney. They are really pretty cute.
Anglea,
Another one that my kids love is Dan Zanes. He used to be featured on Disney although I have not seen him lately. My kids are 3 and 20 months and love all of his CD'd especially Rocket Ship Beach. We have several CD's and they are all wonderful. Here is the website. www.danzanes.com
Laurie Berkner! Also, Rafi is fun to listen to. I like these CD's because they are entertaining for adults, too. Some of the other stuff makes me crazy to listen to over and over!
Avon has a set of 4 CDs of childrens bible songs. My kids really love it. Even the 11 year old will still listen to it.
Hello A.,
Hap Palmer is so GREAT. Also, Jim Gill music. I am a PE teacher and I use music every day for my 4 year olds. Also, learningstationmusic.com is so GREAT. I love music with 4 year olds. It teaches them so much. Good luck!
P.S. If you want more ideas, message me and when I get to school tomorrow I will make you a list!
They Might Be Giants ABC's cd. It is very cute and yet adult enough that it doesn't grate on your nerves while they listen ;)
Go to the library and check out childrens CD's to listen to them before you buy one. They have a wide variety to choose from.
Ralph's World! He's truly amazing, and parents love his songs, too!
and for some special lullabies: http://www.lullabiesfordads.com
I have not seen anyone mention Go Fish. They are a Christian kids band.

Very dancey, upbeat. They have dancey versions of Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, etc.
YES we LOVE Laurie Berkner! Our son sings along which is just too cute, and I enjoy singing her songs, too. My husband even got a little embarassed in the men's restroom at work last week because he accidentally sang "Under a Shady Tree" without realizing it...
We also really like the Jack's Big Music Show soundtrack (you can buy it online through Target or Amazon)---check out that show (the best ever) at 7:30am on Noggin (now Nick JR) to see Laurie Berkner and a lot of other singers. The neatest one (as adults) that we found through that show is called Nuttin' But Stringz (hip hop beat but classical violinists!)---check out their website to hear an instrumental song, but they have some great songs with words too. My son and I both bust some moves to that CD. Really like those guys.
If you go to the Jacks Big Music Show website, there's the ability to watch videos or hear songs from bands they feature as well, and I THINK I saw it (been awhile) where you could click the band you like and go directly to THEIR individual sites for purchasing information.
As for Christian music, we like the Praise Baby CDs and DVDs a lot. When my son was very young, it rocked his world to see other babies playing or whatever, and I love the songs.
I don't have any suggestions for a type of music, but thought I'd steer you to a website that has great prices.
Here is the link: http://www.deepdiscount.com/Children-s_stcVVcatId463867VV...
They don't charge shipping or tax, so the price you see is the price you pay. I've bought DVD's from them for years and also books and they have a great customer service.
Good luck!
Lot's of people have already suggested Laurie Berkner. Her music is a lot of fun! I keep looking for a soundtrack to "Wow Wow Wubbzy!" The music is so happy and fun and my kids love it. We look up the music videos on youtube all the time. Here is a compilation of songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J88Fx5SJ2l4
The soundtrack for Lazytown has a lot of fun dance music: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A2H5Y2/ref=cm_cr_asi.... You can check out music on nickjr.com on their radio link.
Also, The Fresh Beat Band (another Nickelodeon enterprise) is pretty new so I don't know if music is available yet, but they have some fun happy music.
A lot of people really like Kidszbop, but personally, I'd rather just have the original music.
Have fun!
I highly recommend the Bible Action Songs CD. Children actually sing the songs. It's great!! Someone else also mentioned it.
It has many songs. (If it were on cassette it would take three cassettes). It has bible songs and well as "how to" diagrams for the movements to the songs. (Hand movements) It alot of fun. I used it with the childrens Sunday School Class from 3 to 5 year olds. They loved it!! I now use it in the car for my 10 1/2 month old. She seems to love listening to it. She quits crying and just listens.
This is not a CD, but rather a DVD - Action Songs from Christian Life Bookstore. It has kids singing the songs and it doesn't get on your nerves at all. My son LOVES it.
We also love Laurie Berkner.

Depends on your sense of humor, but They Might Be Giants has some really great children's stuff. Try the album "Here Come the 1-2-3's" Very cute, upbeat, educational with an edge of silly. You can find a few songs with videos on youtube if you want to get a feel for the music. Here's my son's favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3Kgj6EiZtw
My four-year old really likes Laurie Berkner. She has some really cute songs and she frequently is on Noggin (at the end of a program) singing one of her songs with her band. My daughter always comes to find me and tell me the Laurie Berkner band is playing as she LOVES her. They are also easy to learn songs.
Another good artist is Peter Himmelman. My three kids like the My Green Kite album, especially.
A good place to find kids music (and listen to some of the songs) is landofnod.com. Hope that helps!
If you want him to memorize 26 Bible verses while singing, there's an ABC Bible Verse CD that we love! One scripture for each letter of the alphabet. It's by The Pearl Family and can be purchased for $5 (I think $5) at nogreaterjoy.org. My two year old already has Bible verses memorized because of this cd!
