Hello all :)

I am seriously considering going to a Chiropractor. I am super nervous because I have heard horror stories about it making things worse and I am afraid of that happening. BUT, I have Fibromyalgia and I have been working hard to find some kind of relief here! I desperately need some pain relief here. And my neck has been killing me for weeks. Soooo, can anyone tell me some GOOD success stories about going to the Chiro? Even better if you have dealt with Fibro.

Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

Thanks for all the advice ladies! And no Libby it wasn't just you!! :) Although you were the latest of my scares haha ;) I love you!

I will try and get good references before I go in and try to find a good one who will be gentle. Thanks again!

My husband is a Chiro. One of my co workers used to go and see him when we still had a practice back home. The chiropractic did help her, but she saw the most benefits when she combined the chiro treatment with massage therapy.

Straight chiropractic help should offer you some relief, but again I would recommend coupling it with massage therapy.

Sadly those horror stories have been from me, huh?(well at least a few:))

Go!

You know what I have been through over the last few weeks and even though there is the potential that they added to some of the pain....They are also taking the time to slowly fix my issues.

Here is the number for my place in Fife....They are truly amazing...I know they are a bit further North then you are...but it is WELL worth the drive...

Fife Chiropractic and Health Awareness ###-###-#### My Chiropractor is Dr. Cori... BUT Dr. Chrissy or Dr. Randi are just as amazing.

I have to keep reminding myself to STOP going to the regular Medical Doctors....They are always quick to give you the latest drugs...Which I hate.

Dr. Cori not only took me in emergency style she spent three hours working on my back and the disc this Saturday...but then she stayed in Phone contact with me and was willing to come in after hours to help if I got worse. that is some Patient dedication!!

They will even help with Fibro...and will have some good tips and what not for you.

I had asked them to start helping me through mine...but since it is not yet diagnosed they want to make sure we have our culprit.

you have your diagnosis so I am certain they will be able to educate you and get you to a place where you are comfortable:)

My husband and I both have had great success using Chiropractors for back problems. You may need to try out more than one to find one you like. Do go only to those who come recommended.

I have had a lot of success going to a chiropractor, most have massage therapists working with them in the same office so that could also help. It may take a little time to see results, but everyone if different and nothing works overnight.

Here is a link with some info and I found my current chiropractor through Holistic Moms Network.

I have been going to my chiropractor for the last two months and can tell you whole-heartedly how much better I feel. I had been seeing my massage therapist for about a year before then and she had been trying to get me into the chiropractor she works with, but I had previously had a bad experience, so I was a little hesitant. I now get a massage and then get "popped", which works well because my body is loosened/warmed up. The chiro also gives me exercises to do at home (they take about 5 minutes per day), which help continue the relief until my next appointment.

I was going every other week to the chiro and just "graduated" to once per month because it helps so much. I don't have fibro, but I am a musician and constantly stress my muscles to the point of no return. My neck is also one of my biggest problem areas. I'm also going in for my first acupuncture session next week, which will hopefully help even more with releiving my pain!

I would just say to make sure you have good references before you choose your chiropractor. Good luck!

Just make sure you find a chiropractor that comes with good recommendations. You also may want to find one that focuses on whole body health ....offers massage, nutrition counseling, acupuncture, etc.

Right now, I go to one that focuses more on athletic injuries and he is great. I have a shoulder tendonitis and he does Active Release Therapy. It has done wonders for the range of motion in my shoulder.

None of the one's that I have gone to have made anything worse...but there is a clear difference between those that offer the same treatment for everyone that walks through the door and those that can individualize the treatment and look at the big picture of what is going on with you.

I go to a chiropractor. A couple weeks ago I was rear ended so I am back. :) Not sure who gives you the idea that they make things worse. Other than a very strange post here a couple weeks ago I have heard nothing but success stories.

I wouldn't keep coming back if they made things worse.

About five years ago I fell at work and twisted my back pinching a mess of nerves. I couldn't even stand up straight. One correction and I had no pain and could stand up straight.

I love my chiropractor!

Tat, wasn't you, I didn't even know you spoke about a chiropractor.

Just make sure you've got some good recommendations for whoever you go to. I'd also call and verify that they have dealt with fibromyalgia. Make sure your Dr. that is treating you for that thinks it would be okay as well. I love my chiro, they can be awesome, just do your research...Blessings....

Please do a search here - I've seen tons of posts about the benefits of chiropractic care. Both of my four year old daughters and I go to the chiropractor. She cured one of my daughters reflux (yup - all gone), and they've both been more healthy since we started going. Fewer colds and shorter illnesses. And I no longer have back pain.

I highly recommend going to a chiropractor... find someone that is recommended or gets good reviews and you'll be all set.

Fibro is not fun. I know several people who have fibro and the relief they get is nutritional. Even the drug companies can't compare because the people are still in pain. so, they went to Shaklee and did a whole protocol with nutritional supplements and have no pain with doing this protocol. If you are interested I can send you the protocol. It is a power point so can't attach it here. Also, the website is www.nutritionandhealthnow.com. A chiro may be able to help if something is out but if you want to be pain free then I would go nutritionally.

Absolutely go! In Tacoma I like Dr. duppenthaler or the Long family (the dad, siblings, etc are all chiros). It will help. Ice and massage help too. And acupuncture when I'm really in bad shape! The Chiro I work for in Seattle has treated many fibro patients.

one more opinion for ya: look for a chiropractor that specialized in atlas orthogonal adjustments. that is the adjustment of the very top vertebrae that traditional chiropractors cannot adjust with any precision. the idea being is that if that top one is not aligned, the rest of your spine adjusts itself to compensate in order to keep you upright, and the adjustments won't be 'straight'.

i went to a traditional, twisting chiropractor but never had much luck. the crunching felt nice tho but the neck twisting is scary!

check out http://www.atlasorthogonality.com/PatientSite/aboutAO.html# to see more about it. there are some in puyallup.

of course they adjust other parts of your spine as well.

hope you feel better!
