Hi,

I am wondering if any moms have used chiropractic care as part of your infant's health care. My chiropractor has suggested assessing my son and I am unsure about it.

Thanks

Hi A.,
I occasionally go to the chiropractor, but I haven't had the chiropractor care for my baby at all. I think that there has been some research relating to SIDS and babies whose spine wasn't aligned. A friend of mine used to bring her daughter and she said that the chiro would squeeze the baby's butt cheeks and as long as her butt crack was straight, then her back was aligned correctly.
If you feel uncomfortable, ask your chiro why he feels the need to treat your son, and what exactly he would be doing. I can't imagine that he would do an actual adjustment on an infant... you know your baby best - trust your gut. Best of luck to you!

Absolutely. We've had chiropractic care for both our daughters since day one. There's plenty of research on specifics that chiro helps things that babies have. Less ear infections, sick less often, stronger immune system, less colic, digestive issues, etc. Your chiro can probably tell you about some of that. Our daughters have been very healthy and if they do start to get something, I have them adjusted and they often get over it within a day.
Babies are adjusted very easily and gently because they are still very agile. Depending on if they have anything going on already (which can happen just from the trauma of birth) the chiro will probably want to see your baby a few times close together to take care of that and then probably not very often at all. If you start them when they're young, they are less likely to develop problems and and then they can just maintain their good health. We believe chiropractic is the best investment we can make in our health.
I'm sure your chiro would be happy to explain just how it helps and how it's done.
Go for it! You have nothing to lose!

Hi A. - my family has been a 'chiropractic family' for more than 20 years. I started going to see one before my son was born (he's going to be 22 yrs old this month) and my son started treating w/chiropractic care when he was 9 or 10 yrs old. I wish we'd started sooner - it's such a healthy, non-invasive way to compliment anyone's health and your son isn't "too young" to benefit from this complimentary health care. If you'd like the name and contact info of my absolute favorite chiropractor, let me know; it might be helpful to talk with him as you explore this treatment option. - Kathy P

Go for it! My three kids have been getting adjusted since they were 2 weeks old. They are now 6,5, and 2. You would not believe how out of wack their little bodies are from birth whether fro C-section or natural childbirth.
