Christmas Gift for Daycare Providers

My almost 10-month old daughter has been at a daycare center since late August. Her room has 5 regular teachers with other regular helpers often there. I am happy with her situation and the teachers are experienced and friendly. My question is: is it standard to give a Christmas gift to the teachers and if so, what is an appropriate gift? Maybe it would be best to bring them a cake or cookies that they could share?

What can I do next?

I have been in childcare for 23 years!! I like the idea of something for the teachers to share. If you would like another idea, what about a plant or flowers? If you want to make individual gifts the dollar stores have cute little vases and you could buy flowers from Jewel. It probally would only cost around $25.00.

Hi A.,
I have worked in daycare for many years now and I will tell you it is not for the money. Often times people don't realize how little money centers actually pay their employees and many don't give benefits either. Please do something for your teachers and helpers. It doesn't have to be much, (everyone knows how money is tight) just let them know how much you truly appreciate the care they give your sweet baby girl! Feeling appreciated is a great gift also!
Happy Holidays!

I was a teacher and I appreciated even the smallest gifts. I really loved ornaments that the kids gave me to hang on my tree-

I would get something small for each person your child comes in contact with- they have really cute 2$ ornaments at Walmart (I got my son's Godmother a glass Santa ornament this year).

My preschooler has been attending her daycare for more than a year. For last year's holidays we gave her 3 teachers $20 gift cards to Bath and Body Works. With each gift card we enclosed a thank you card to that particular teacher. They were very touched! Daycare providers definately are not in this professionf for the money...only for their love of children and I really give it to them for what they do! Whew! This year we will probably do something similar for her preschool teachers.

I have both of my kids in daycare (ages 3 and 1). I've gotten gift cards ($20) for each of the teachers (there are five total) and for the Director and Asst. Director. With the gift card, I will make thank you notes with a picture of my sons on it. I will also be sending a Mrs. Fields gift basket to the center for everyone to enjoy.

I am so happy with the care they give our boys and I appreciate it so much. I like letting them know that.

Happy Holidays!
