Christmas Gifts for Daycare Teachers

There's about 6 teachers that care of my 18 month old in daycare and I want to get them a little something for the holidays without breaking the bank. I'm thinking of either setting up a pizza lunch one day or a bath&body works gift for each teacher.. what do you think would be better? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

What can I do next?

No group gift! (Exclusionary) I think doing a pizza llunch is an awesome idea...but talk to them about it and pick a day in advance so they know to plan for it on a specific day!
Also, a nice platter of cookies (homemade or bakery) would be nice with a small stack of "take home" bags!

Send a quick note with the other kids of the class, take up a collection for a "group gift". Then give the teachers a pizza party or individual gift cards to a mall/major store. And don't forget the director if he/she has helped you out at all. (It always nice to remember them since they handle all the billing!)

EVERY other parent is in the same boat as you. Pool your money instead of giving a little gift to each teacher.

Wow, 6 gifts...one word...BAKE!

That will be your most bang for your buck for that many gifts. You can try this great cookie recipe for dried fruit cookies. They are so pretty and tasty too! You can make them in a big batch and freeze them and then just defrost in the refrigerator overnight and slice and bake as needed.

To personalize it you could get a little personalized tote with the teachers initial on it. Try the Christmas Tree Shop, they sell lots of cute little bags at really reasonable prices.

Another great idea is a personalized item. Check out Etsy, it is a great site for crafty people (not me) to sell their goods. I have bought some great little totes and high chair covers from this site at much cheaper prices than retail. I found these cute personalized cosmetic bags for only $10.

I would stay away from the bath & body works gift unless you know what they like because there are so many scents and it truly is a matter of preference. Not that they wouldn't appreciate the thought but I am sure you would rather that they like the gift and get to use it. Additionally, there could be allergies, etc.

If you are looking for other ideas, this same question has been asked a lot lately and you should be able to get lots from those answers.

In our daycare the teachers rotate to help our where needed so my sons knows everyone on site. We usually make treats like peppermint bark, popcorn balls, fudge or whatever we are already making. He loves to help put everything on the trays and cover them up to take in the next day to share. I love your idea on a pizza lunch, but know it wouldn't work for us since there are several diet restrictions involved. Since you are in CA, you could add fresh fruit to the treats to help cover all bases! Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Bath and Body works is great if you know what scents they like to use. The daycare we had our kids at gave us a breakdown of what teachers preferred so I wasn't buying a scent that they'd dislike. Like you I had 6 teachers to worry about. See if you can find out if not, getting them some of the hand soaps is a fantastic meaningful gift. Regardless, of scent preferences or allergies the hand soaps can be used in their homes and guests when visiting can use it. You can give a few to each teacher and make it a variety. Pizza is fine but I know that a lot of women worry about their weight etc....Whatever you decide if it is meaningful I am sure they'll appreciate it.
