I am a 30 yr old single mom with a 4 year old boy living in Arlington. We are looking for a church that has a really awesome childrens church. I would also like a church that has meet up groups for single moms and just singles in general. The religion doesn't matter. I am non denominational so I could go just about anywhere. What I really want is a second family for me and my son. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I started going to Crossroads Christian Church. My kiddo loves it. The Awana program is so awesome and I've even started helping out with the three year olds. There is so much love at this church. They do not have a single moms class, but they do have a really good singles class.

Church on Rush Creek is on Green Oaks & Bowen (S. A.) and it is GREAT! The Pastor is great, the staff, the messages, the kids ministry, the life groups, we've enjoyed everything about this (non-denominational) church. It is also very casual dress and relaxed atmosphere. They have 3 services: 9, 10:15 and 11:30. Come visit and I'm sure you'll love it!
God bless you and your son.

I live in Arlington, and have researched dozens of churches. While I don't go to church in Arlington at the moment (actually Cedar Hill), some churches with solid teaching and decent children's ministries are: Tate Springs Baptist Church, Mansfield Bible Church, Grace Bible Church, Calvary Chapel Arlington, and if you go to http://awana.org/on/demandware.store/Sites-Awana-Site/def... any church with an Awana's program will give your child a solid opportunity to know and understand God's word. The site should be updating over the next few weeks with new information about churches that will be having the program this fall. Good luck.

My husband and 15 year-old son and I are members of DFW New Beginnings. It is the big white church off 183 in Irving, on the TBN lot ( but we are not part of TBN). It is the BEST ministry all the way around, not only will you find a TERRIFIC ministry for your son, but you will find a wealth of knowledge and spiritual growth for yourself! We explore faith from our Jewish roots, and there are many life groups to join, and many places for you to get 'plugged in'. Check out the websight at larryhuchministries.net, click on the dfwnewbeginnings link. Service starts Sundays at 10 am, Fridays we have family service night, at 7pm-bring your baby to Pastor Jen who runs the children's center, and you will see he will be leading you back!!! God bless you!

First Baptist Church in Arlington on Center Street has a great childrens ministry. Both our boys love them and ask to go to church instead of "making" them go. The teachers are great! Good luck finding a church home.

We went to Rush Creek before moving. It was a great, positive place. Great music. I always looked forward to going. It is a pretty progressive, nondenominational. So, lots of shorts, hawaiian shirts, very relaxed dress, in other words. All sorts of people are there and it's very welcoming. My kids are biracial, so, the great mix of people made us feel more comfortable. The pastor is really smart, funny, energetic and puts things in a way that you can understand, but it's sometimes kind of light. A really simple message. Almost like a great peptalk and peprally to start your week. They have a lot of activities for kids and singles groups.

Generally, the larger the church the more programs they have and the more people they have to run them. If you lived up here I'd say Prestonwood, but I don't know the mega-churches on the south side.

I go to lifechurch in s. ft. worth. I live in south Arlington and it's about a 15 min drive for me and it's so worth it! They have Sat. service as well as 3 services to choose from on Sunday. The band is awesome, the church is awesome and the kids services are great! Joye Lynn Thompson is the children's pastor and she makes sure that the kids are well taken care of. The kids are grouped in classes of 0-2 in one, 2-3 in one, 4-5 in one and 6-5th grade in one. You'll love Craig Groshel's messages too. He's great!
