The only thing I have found that works is a steam mop.
I have been cleaning my pergo floor with a wet swiffer and Pledge multi floor cleaner. I now have a build up of wax, and scratches. I need some advice on getting this coating off without damaging the floor. I've tried vinegar and water and all it does is bead up.
The only thing I have found that works is a steam mop.
You can use 1 part ammonia to 2 parts water and mop, OR you can apply mineral spirits directly using a cloth (mineral spirits dry too quickly to be effective with a mop). Obviously test a small area first to ensure there won't be any problems, but that should solve the problem you're having. Wax needs a solvent to effectively remove it.
Does the Pledge multi-floor cleaner actually contain wax? I didn't think so. Perhaps its a cleaner and wax? I've used a swiffer and found that it left a somewhat sticky residue. I suggest trying ammonia and water on it. A steam mop may cut thru it, too.
Never ever EVER use steam on any wooden or wooden laminate flooring!
People do, but they are ruining their floors.
From Pergo Consumer Product Information site:
Q:
Can I use a steam cleaning system such as those seen on TV home shopping networks?
A:
No, you should not use these systems as they can press water into the joints, which should always be avoided.

From the North America Pergo web site:
How do I clean my Pergo floor?
Pergo’s exclusive LusterGard TM surface protection ensures dirt and dust will not adhere to your floor and guarantees it will not stain or fade like other flooring surfaces. For day to day maintenance an occasional damp mop, quick sweeping or light vacuuming with the hard floor attachments are usually all it takes to keep your Pergo floor clean. Do not use soaps, detergents, or cleaners with wax because they may leave a film, dulling the floor. Difficult spots like nail polish, markers, tar and cigarette burns can be easily removed with Pergo's Laminate and Hard Surface cleaner. Another option is to mix 1 gallon of water with 1 cup vinegar or ½ cup of ammonia per gallon of water. Pergo floors must never be waxed, polished, sanded or refinished and never use a wet or jet mop when cleaning.
For larger issues, Pergo Finishing Putty can be used to repair small chips and dents that have penetrated the laminate layer of your floor. These putties are easy to use and have been color-coordinated for each Pergo laminate floor. If the area to be repaired is larger than a 1/4 of an inch, we recommend replacing the plank. Individual planks can be replaced if necessary, since we use no dye lots and the floor does not fade there will be no variation between planks. To ensure you always have product in the rare event a plank replacement should be needed we recommend you keep a few extra boxes of your flooring on hand in the event that colors are discontinued. Since this procedure can be challenging to the average do-it-yourselfer we recommend you locate a flooring professional who has the proper tools and training for plank replacements.
