Hi everyone! I just got this great used sectional from a friend! I love it! I knew when I bought it that she let her dog up on it but I didn't care since I have a little poochie of my own that is going to claim it as his soon enough! Anyway, I have vacuumed it and Febreezed it but it could use a bit more freshening. I'm not in a position to get it professionally cleaned right now so I was wondering if anyone has ever used any of those Woolite spray and vac cleaners and had good results? Has anyone used anything else that worked better? I appreciate any and all suggestions! Everyone have a great day!

be careful with those cleaners b/c they can leave water rings. You can try baking soda for the smell. I have heard that when you have stuffed animals that cannot be cleaned that you put them in a bag with baking soda and shake it and then take it outside and pat it out. The smell should be gone. Can you take the covers off and wash them? If not, maybe dry clean? My last couch you could not do that b/c they might shrink so be careful b/c you do not want to shrink so they cannot fit back on.....

Or, you can buy a cover, they have some really cute ones now.

A year ago we bought a couch from a garage sale and discovered it reeked of smoke. We applied baking soda liberally all over the couch and let it sit for at least 24 hours. I think we did this two or three times before the smell was completely gone. I also read about putting bowls of lemon juice out and letting them sit. One night I left two or three bowls of lemon juice on the couch. Our treatments worked. The couch is completely scent-free (and smoke-free) now.

Hi N., I don't know anything about Woolite spray, but I do know that Sol U Mel is the most wonderful and versital product, with no toxic chemicals, that will not only clean, but will deodorize your sofa as well. This stuff is absolutely amazing and will not harm your health or your children's using it. It is also very reasonably priced. If you email me (____@____.com) I will tell you how you can get some.

Hi N., I love your "about me"!

I have shopped with an on-line company that makes products that are safer for your home, your family, and the environment for over four years now. I have liked them so well, that a couple of months ago I decided to start a business with them as well. We use their products on our rug and it takes the dog smell out completely ... I even let my four year old do it for me. I also use them in my diaper pale - and it smells lovely! :-)

If you would like more information about these types of products you can go to my website http://www.switchingstores.com/danipen

Take care, D..

hi there N.,
i would try a spray of water and viniger 1/2 and 1/2 spray the cusions and then let them dry in the sun. you can also spray the rest of the couch but need to let it dry and then vacuume. the viniger nuetrilizes the odors. you can also use viniger to wash windows with newspaper as a wipe.

I've used Resolved carpet cleaner on upholstery with good results. Of course, as the labels always say, try in a hidden spot first to test for colorfastness.

I got a used recliner that smelled like dog. I mixed a solution of 50 percent hydrogen peroxide and 50 percent water. It lifted the dirt and the smell right out.

try baking soda. sprinkle it liberally on the sofa, let it sit over night, and then vacuum it in the morning. baking soda is all natural, so it wont leave a chemical smell, and wont hurt your dog if he gets into it somehow. you could also try leaving it out in the son in your back yard for a few days. the son will bleach out any food or dog stains and leave it smelling fresh.

Try putting some of that blue oxyclean on it. That takes out most odors. Spray it on and let it set then rub it in real good and let it air dry I'm with you on"religion". I'm not religious but very spiritual, I walk with GOD everyday and yes his plan for us is best we just need to learn to listen to him a little bit better
