I found a spot in my closet last night where one of my cats has started peeing, right on my husbands brand new pairs of dress shoes. I got the wood floor cleaned up but I have now idea what I can use on his shoes to get the smell off! Any help would be GREATLY welcomed!

I always use vinegar to clean up after cat stains, as it's a base to the acid that is in cat urine. It can often neutralize the odor. But I am not sure that it would be safe to use on shoes, so do a small test on a portion of the material that is not visable, like the inside of the shoe.

try an enzyme type cleaner made for cat urine...usually sold at pet places or at carpet cleaning places....its good stuff and you can use it on mattresses and other stuff and it will take out all odors ....those cleaners usually have you use a diluted amount in warm water and then cover with a warm towel and then with another dry towel....and the chemical reaction will draw that urine right into the dry towel...i tried rug doctor stuff it was ok but not that great.

I would try some of the over the counter pet stain and oder remover. When I saw the caption I was going to tell you to try white vinegar but I don't know weather that will work in shoes or not. I would think it wouldn't but it works well on carpet and clothes. Have a great day! G.

Are you sure it was pee and not their "spray?"

you can find this stuff at petsmart. It works! I even use it on stains on my daughters clothes, gets 'em right out.

Oof - if they're nice dress shoes (I'm assuming leather) I'd probably take them to the cobbler.
