My husband will have his birthday while we are out of town on vacation. This is great, and we have let the hotel and restaurants know, etc., so they'll do whatever they do. But I feel like my daughter and I should do something for him. We are flying, so we can't really haul a bunch of presents over or anything, packing is an issue.

Does anyone have any ideas on small, creative, easy things that we might do to make his day more special? I don't even know where to begin...

What can I do next?

Take pictures of the presents and hide them at home. On his bday give him a card with the picture of the presents in the card.

How about packing a bag of balloons, which are cheap and really easy to pack! ;) and then blowing them while he's in the shower on his b-day morning. Or go down to eat breakfast and then say you forgot something in the room and go back up and do it then. He might know something is up, but I'm sure your daughter will love to see his reaction.

You could also wake up extra early and run to the nearest Starbucks and come back with a nice hot beverage that he would love! You could also pack some donuts or Hostess cupcakes or something and give one to him with a little candle when he wakes up.

That's all I got...but I'll keep thinking!

-Pack a "Happy Birthday" banner for the hotel room
-take a few balloons to blow up & place in the room
-bring a card & some candles (you can buy some brownies at a nearby
bakery or put them on an appetizer at the restaurant)
-maybe buy a shirt to bring (easy to pack)
-buy him something on his special day while out walking around sightseeing
-purchase a fun excursion or sight seeing trip on your vacation that HE
would like to see/visit

Your daughter can make your Husband, a bracelet with beads on stretchy string.
My daughter did that for my Husband, and he wears it.
It looks really cool actually, like those trendy bracelets men wear... with the pony beads on it.

Or braid a bracelet, with different color strings.

And when your Husband wears it, he will remember it, in a special way.

While he is not looking buy him a souviner from a tourist shop with the name of the place you are visiting. Something small he can keep on his desk to remind him of the fun you had on your vacation, but will also fit in is suitcase. Give it to him at dinner when the staff brings his cake and sings Happy Birthday.

Scavenger hunt with little gifts along the way to the grand prize at the end, perhaps the dining room where you guys are waiting at the table for a special dinner.

My hubby did something like this when he had to be out of town on my birthday. I got things like clippers to add to my key chain, some travel size lotion for my purse, a hair clip, some other hair stuff like headbands, you know the kind of stuff. Simple small stuff that can come from the Dollar Tree so you don't spend much.

My scavenger hunt ended in my craft room with a bunch of new silk flowers in a bag under the table. It was the sweetest thing. I would not have expected anything like that.

I also had another one happen around Christmas time. He had to be out of state to receive an award. He left me a note on his pillow and when I got to the end I found about 5 yards of Red Poinsettia fabric. I used it to make an underskirt to wear in December under my dark green jumper. I have several underskirts that I do that with to fit the season. I also have a lightweight denim one and have some that go with the blue.

Anyway. I enjoy the fun of figuring out the clues and each little thing makes my heart know he spent time and effort in deciding what to buy and give me, plus the clues were easy to figure out so I felt really smart.
