Hi A.~
I'd say being interested in cloth diapers is at least half your way to getting there:-) We cloth diaper our son (though we didn't with our daughter, now 5) and we really love it. First of all, even though there is a higher initial investment overall it saves money, we rarely have any kind of diaper rash, they come in cute colors and prints, and environmentally friendly:-)
We started using cloth when our son was 2 weeks old (after circ healed and cord stump fell off) and were using fitteds with covers when he was a newborn. Some mamas prefer that route, but I've found that we really like 'pocket' diapers (Fuzzi Bunz, Bum Genuis, Blueberry Minkies) the best. Even daycare uses them for us. I'd recommend checking out the BabyCenter.com website and they have a board called 'Diapering Your Baby' which is full of great information and wonderful moms more than willing to share adventures in cloth diapering. The other recommendation I would make is to start of trying a few different kinds of cloth diapers to see which ones you like the best and get the best fit from. I bought many of mine used off of the BabyCenter diapering board and off of Diaperswappers.com and have had great results. All diapers I purchased used were in great condition with no problems or stains or anything...just cheaper. Definitely a good idea for trying out some different things.
