Clothes to Pack for January Cruise?

I am going on a cruise from Galveston to two Mexican ports this weekend for five nights. I am not sure what type of clothes to take. Do you think I need cold weather clothes at all, or mostly summer type clothes? What about a jacket type heavy or light? Could you please let me know how you packed for a trip like this and any hints you have regarding preparing for a cruise itself. Thank you for your advice.

What can I do next?

My daughter just went on a cruise to the Caribbean. She was in shorts, summer dresses, and a swim suit most often. She did have to take a formal dinner dress. Check the cruise website and google the average weather for your stops.

Have FUN!

*Forgot to mention the ginger candy that you can pick up at Whole Foods. That will help with any motion sickness during and after the cruise. My daughter was fine during the cruise and when she got home she had dizzy spells for 2 days before I thought of picking up the ginger. $3.50/bag.

I would bring stuff for warm weather but on a cruise it is always chilly in the dining rooms and bars so bring a sweater or light jacket. I brought things that could be layered and mixed and matched when we went on our cruise. Doesn't matter how much you pack it will be too much lol. You do need some dressier stuff for dinner but more casual for the daytime. If your getting off the ship then wear things with pockets. I hated carrying a purse all over the place so put my id and passport in hubbys pocket. then just carried a tote that I could put souvenirs into. bring small bottles of shampoo etc as you won't want to chance them being spilled. and bring comfy shoes how ever many days your going to be there bring twice that many pair of underwear for both of you. thats my best tip lol. bring a beach towel if your going to the pool or a cover up.

forgot something. we also bought the wrist bands so we got free pop and juice the whole trip. alcoholic beverages were extra but it cost us like $15 and got pop the whole time. you will be surprised at the end if you don't do that. pop is like $3 each and those fruity drinks with umbrellas are like $10 we didn't have all that many drinks but got a bill for close to $200 for the few we did have. If you have 2 drinks per day at $10 each that's $100 just for you. So keep that in mind while your on there just to avoid surprises.

Take warm weather things and a dressier coverup for dinners, a generic lightweight sweater for cool rooms, jeans and a couple of long sleeve tops. That should have you covered!! Have fun!!

I hope you have a WONDERFUL TIME!!!

My wife wears a jacket when the weather drops below 70. I begin to want a jacket when the weather drops below 55. The cruise ship moves through the water around 20 to 25 mph. So depending on how you feel about the temp at home, is whether you need a jacket or not.

I'd bring a light jacket, and clothes to go with it and I'd bring the rest of my clothes that I would wear around home if the weather was in the 80's. Bring a bathing suit to give him eye strain and a more conservative one. Most cruise ships have an adult only spa and pool. (Adults only meaning only adults, not XXX) The adults only pool and spa is nice so you don't have little kids splashing and playing tag in the pool.

Good luck to you and yours.
