Hi,

My 11 month old always seems to have cold feet in the morning.
She wears a pair of socks plus the sleepwear where her legs are covered up, but I noticed her feet still gets cold when I change her at night.
I would hoping to get some ideas where to buy some extra thick socks for the winter to keep her feet warm.

Top and pants, I am not worried. She should be good. It's the feet I want to keep warm.

Thanks

What can I do next?

It's normal for extremities (hands and feet) to get cold at night. We adults often feel the cold and are uncomfortable. Babies and children rarely. Unless your baby is waking up and acting uncomfortable I'd let this go. She is fine with cold feet.

My grandchildren are now 9 and 12 and still have cold feet. They refuse to even put on socks. They run around in the daytime without a jacket and their arms feel cold but they insist that they're comfortable. I think kids have a greater tolerance to differences in temperature. Being cold is not a health hazard so I don't fight it.

Cold hands and feet are fine. As long as their thighs and upper arms are warm they are good...then their core body temp is good too.

It is completely normal for young children to have cold feet and hands. Remember that their circulatory system is not as matured as an adult and this is the reason why their little hands and feet stay cold. All of this is developing as they grow. This is nothing to worry about. If you are comfortable your baby will be too.

We got some Smart Wool socks for our daughter at REI. I am not sure how small of a size they carry but I would try there. Also Acorn brand socks which are also carried at REI are thick fleece socks.

Double check to make sure they aren't bluish. If they are, call your PED for advice. Good luck! My dd was like that and we covered her and put socks under her footed PJS.

Hi C,

I have always had cold feet and hands which is a sign of poor circulation. I now sleep on magnets and wear them and use a far in frared blanket and I have warm feet now.

If you would like more info let me know. There will be events in Livermore in Jan. with the Dr. Panel educating individuals on how to bring wellness home.

Have a great holiday.
