Comfy Shoes for Mom?

I'm looking for shoes that I can wear with socks and not look like an idiot! These would be to wear with pants/jeans only. I really like the look of "fashion athletic" shoes, but have tried on many brands and they're all uncomfortable. They're either too narrow, have arch support in the wrong place, aren't cushioned enough or all three. Bad feet run in my family! If you have a pair of comfortable shoes, no matter what kind, please let me know the brand. I could stand to get a few pair. Right now, the only thing I wear are a a pair of ballet flats and Saucony running shoes. Thanks!

So What Happened?

I bought a pair of Easy Spirit "fashion athletic" at TJ Maxx. They're not the style I wanted, but they're comfortable. Only problem is the sole is falling off the left shoe! I've given up for now! I went to Payless and bought some ballet flats and platform heeled sandals. They're fun and cute and this one brand (American Eagle) doesn't kill my feet. Someday, I'll go to Nordstrom's and try on their different comfort shoes. I like Merrells a lot, especially their mary jane styles. Then, I'll shop around online for good prices and free shipping and try some out at home until I find a pair I can live with. Thanks for all the responses!

I have a pair of easy spirit fashion tennis shoes that I got at DSW. I get many compliments on them, and they are incredibly comfortable. The only bad thing about them is they are black and white so I cannot wear them with brown. I cannot find them online anywhere, but it looks like they have some other cute styles, also. I would go somewhere like DSW or Nordstroms where you can try on tons of different shoes so you find the ones you like the best!

I have Clarks wedges I wear constantly. They have rubber soles, so I can keep up with my little one, but are a little more fashionable to wear with jeans or pants. I bought them at DSW.

Hi E.,
I have 3 too... now 15, 16 and 17.

I wear Clark's clogs and cowboy boots. No one can see what you are wearing if you wear boots. Of course, this is when I actually wear clothes and not sweats. Otherwise I'm in Saucony too!

I love Rocket Dogs. Here is a link to my favorite pair. They are so lightweight and very comfortable. I buy mine at Famous Footwear. All of their styles are very comfortable. Go to FF website and search rocket dogs. they have lots to choose from.

I love my Merrells. You can get them at Dillards, but I usually get them at www.onlineshoes.com as there is no sales tax or shipping! I am a nurse and wear them everyday.

I heart Pearl Izumi sneakers. It's like walking on marshmallow clouds. There is a store in the plaza on Hulen St. in Ft. Worth that has Ulta, Kroger, and DSW. I usually hate to wear shoes because I have the same problems you do-wide, high-arched feet, and I am on my feet TONS. Hope you love them!

I LOVE my Keen's. I have had back issues and the Keen's made a difference. REI and The Walking Company carry them.

This is just another pair of athletic shoes - sorry - but I think they are the greatest! Brooks Motion Control shoes have extra supports and you can feel the difference! I had foot surgery (bad feet too!) about 5 years ago and my podiatrist told me to go to a store called "Run On". Their salesmen are really trained and knowledgeable at fitting a good shoe...so they might would recommend something different for you. But - I got married a few years later and my husband has knee problems. I just got him some of the same shoes (the men's version, of course), and he won't wear anything else! I would recommend going to Run On to talk with the salesmen, but you can also find these Brooks shoes online and on ebay for a good deal.
Hope you get some relief! Its hard to chase little ones with aching feet!

I have a pair of Naot sandals that i ADORE. I've actually had 3 pair--all identical--bought my first pair in 1996. I wear one 'til they wear out (3-4 years), then buy a new pair. They're pricey--about $100 a pair--but SOO worth it, they're the only shoe I wear any time it's over 65 degrees! The same company makes some closed-toe shoes as well--they would certainly be worth a try!
