People are so ding dang kry8tyve with their kid's names, that pre-making the boards might not work, honestly. If you are going to that route, go with the names that can't really be messed with but are still very popular/trendy, like: Tyler, Ashton, Liam, Ethan, Logan, Lucas, Matthew, James, Benjamin Madison, Bella, Ella, Emma, Olivia, Ava, Grace, Hannah, Claire, etc.

Being a mom with a foreign name, and having a DD with a foreign name, I would REALLY appreciate more people making things with name customization. I think it sucks that my DD misses out because she doesn't have a typical, common, American name.

Since soooo many people are being "unique" in spelling names these days (ugh!), I would do first initial only. I can't find one of my daughters names on something sometimes so I always buy them both letter a and o instead of things with their names on them!

My daughters have several people we know more than 2-3 of: payton/Peyton, Amelia, Emma, madison, Olivia, Sydney, grace, Hannah, Riley/rylie, ava, hazel, rain (boys and girls), juniper, Brooklyn(n), Sophie/Sophia, abby, zoe, and Isabella. Boys we know a few of are Noah, Christopher, Cruz, Brayden/braedon, jayden (boys and girls), Hayden, Maddox, lucca/luca, Dylan, Tyler, Logan, landon, Jackson, and Aidan/aiden/ayden.

i think those last two boys names are funny because thats my brothers first and middle name, he was born in 1977

btw....a lot of those names stay the same, switch order and 9 and 10 get replaced.

This website lists popular names by state and birth year. So if your product is marketed at 5 year olds, you can search the most popular names 5 years ago in Wisconsin.

Here we have a lot of aiden, jayden, hadden, but the spelling is always tricky.

Check out the Social Security Dept's list of the most popular names at http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/. You can check by year, so you can go back to figure out what was popular a few years ago.

One suggestion would be to do unisex colors because of all the unisex names out there. My daughter has more of a boys name, and every time we see her name on something it has dark colors and is surrounded by basketballs, soccer balls, etc. Not that she's not sporty, but she's a swimmer :) Also, I know of 2 Jaydens, and they're both girls. Other names I hear a lot of: Grace, Hannah, Emily, Isabella (TON of those), Aidan, Jack, Jackson.

I think making regular names is fine but I agree with some of the moms. There are a alot of unique names and spellings out there now. What about having a sheet to fill out and making some personalized ones? You could either ship them (charge extra for shipping) or have them come pick them up. I really didn't think my sons names were that unique but can't find anything anywhere with their names.

It depends on what area of the country. I'm in NY and I work in an elementary school. Our kindy/first/second grade kids seem to have names like Brandon, William, Alex and Tyler. any "-aiden" names. braden, jaden, aiden, cayden. and a million different versions of spellings. it's hard to pin them down. (as you can see i fell into the "-aiden" trap...thank god i at least spelled it uniquely!) "traditional" boys names are still popular too, Aaron, James, Michael, Hunter (not stricly traditional but i know a couple....)

for girls, mya is popular, savannah, grace, mia, hmm....i had a boy...so i barely looked at girl names lol. good luck at the craft fair!

COMPLETEYLY agree with Kiki. :) my daughter has an unusual name and i can never find anything for her. it's always having to be "princess" "drama queen", etc. doing customization, if possible, for kids with no so common names would be awesome!

I think it does depend on where you are, can you ask people who work in childcare, schools in your town. here I see a lot of Pipers, Emma, Isabella or Isabel, Stephanie. For boys: Alex, Aiden, Jackson, Max, Tommy, are popular,

Track down the list of the most popular baby names of 2010. I think if you do a Google search, you should be able to find it pretty quickly. A lot of the names mentioned already are on it.

My daughters name is Jadyn. Aiden seems to be a pretty popular name now as well.

not sure which ones are super popular these days, my kiddos are still super young, 2 and 8 month old twins. their names are Ian, Conner and Sean. i would advise that you also do some different spelling of names. like with Conner, it is hard to find because mostly it is with OR at the end.

My daughter's name is Addison and there seem to be a fair number of Addisons/Addies out there.

I have also seen a lot of Riley, Kiera, Kiara, Nevaeh, Jordan, Brooklyn, Brooke, Taylee, Leigh, Brandon, Kilee, Samantha, Nicole, Brett, Natalie, Avery, Jessica, Jeni/Jenny, Travis, Tyler, Michael, Sophia, and Isabella/Bella is coming up more now. I wouldn't organize them in boy/girl rows (I don't know if you were going to or not of course :)) b/c some are neutral names (like Avery and Jordan) but just in alphabetical order or something.
