I need any and all feedback on these two gyms....desperately need to get in gear and am finding I can not do it without some facility to 'report' to. :-) I am looking at LA Fitness off of 75 and Eldorado; and 24 Hour Fitness off Watters. I appreciate your time.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I appreciate your insight. I have decided to join 24 hour fitness...lower price, bigger child care area, set up is more conducive to my needs (cozier core area to workout, etc.), and no gap in childcare hours. I would love lifetime, but honestly we are pushing our finances doing this, so with that, we have chosen 24 hour fitness. Thanks for the info and hopefully I will be committed to go. If there are any other moms that use 24 hour fitness and you want to try to meet....let me know. ____@____.com

I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness in Allen for almost 3 years and I don't have a bad thing to say about it. It's not fancy like Lifetime. But since you didn't ask me to compare to Lifetime I'll just say that I have no reasom to suggest not joing 24 hour Fitness in Allen. The staff is friendly and courteous. I have NEVER been there when there wasn't at least one or two people cleaning the machines and other things. I know gyms in general have germs but how can you not. They really try to keep it clean and it seems clean to me. They offer alot of really good classes. And last but not least, childcare. They have gotten alot better in that area. The childcare room used to be really small it as often a little bit of a wait to get your child in. But with the exception of around 9-10 a.m. and right after working hours, like 5:30-6:00 p.m. it is usually not a problem. One time I went for a 5:00 p.m. class and there was a line. A manager walked by, saw the line and started pulling admin. staff off the floor to go into the childcare area so they could start taking more kids right away. And my kids have never complained that they've been mistreated or neglected by anyone there either.

So I can only speak for this one facility. It meets more than my needs for working out. If you're going to throw Lifetime into the mix, I think you're talking about apples and oranges. They are going to offer you more, but you're going to pay more also.

I don't about either of those facilities but I am joining Lifetime fitness off of 121. They have a program starting on August 29th called Team Weight Loss and they take only 9-10 people. You work out with personal trainers in a group and talk about dieting and your overall weight challenges while getting the one on one attention from a personal trainer. It is a 12 week program. I am very excited about this new opportunity because I have seen many of my friends have great results in weight loss and as an added bonus come out LOVING to exercise!

LA Fitness lets you cancel or freeze ONLY if you don't sign the training membership. BEWARE!!! Don't get a training membership!!! Not worth the money. LA fitness is great for $32...but if you plan on doing a training membership use your money at Lifetime.

I love LA Fitness, the same one you mentioned. I have been a member there since February. My son loves the kids play area, so it's nice to get a workout while he is having fun. The only time I have ever waited for an aerobic machine to use was on a Saturday morning. My membership for myself is $35 a month one child included...I heard it's an extra $5 or $10 a month per kid after the first one. I can freeze my account at anytime or cancel with 30 days notice. I appreciate there is no contract.

I've never been to LA Fitness in McKinney. I am a member of 24 Hr in Allen. I don't get there as often as I should. I do not have children that need to be in the nursery so I can't touch on that.

I have not had any problems at 24 hr. I did choose it because it is so close to my house (less chance to not go, LOL). I dont use the pool, spa and things like that. I just go in, do my thing and leave. The staff has always been nice.

Some friends from my bunco group switched from Allen 24 hr to Allen Lifetime. The moms with children spoke more highly of Lifetime. It is off 121 and I forget the cross street.
