My daughter had the same problem. the few things you can do for her are
1. Use a crib wedge or have her sleep in her car seat. She needs to be elevated.
2. My sister changed her daughters formula to Nutramigen. It is very expensive but it worked for her.
3. I am not sure if this is possible for a 2 month old but you can do nose drops. 1/4tsp salt to 1 cup water. Do it every time you change her diaper.
4. Use a humidifier but I would not use vicks.
Good luck!

Instead of saline or salt/water in her nose, use breast milk. It does wonders! Besides, it won't burn because it has a nice sweet content.

We had the same problem when our son,who is now 16 months old,got sick during those first few months. The best remedy we found was a humidifier, that we would run at night and elevation. Our doctor suggested putting a pillow under the crib sheet to elevate them and that seemed to help a lot. You could also do this with a bassinet. Just make sure it is under the sheet to avoid suffication. Hope this helps.

Hi M., we had the same problem with our newborn. The dry warm air in the house seemed to be perpetuating the problem. We decided to try a humidifier and it worked wonderfully. I would recommend cleaning the device out regularly to avoid mold growth. We also found a nose aspirator called Nosefrida that we love. It looks silly but it works great and the baby actually enjoys it, she thinks we're playing. Good Luck!

This will work wonders.

Get some Vick's BabyRub (make sure it's the baby version) and rub some on the baby's FEET. Put a blanket sleeper (with the feet built in) or socks over both feet. The runny nose, coughing and congestion will disappear. It works just as good in the daytime as it does in the night time. A cool mist humidifier works great too, just make sure you don't add any medication to it, it can put a film/coating on the lungs when its breathed in. My 14-month-old recently had a cold. I used this method and he was back to normal in no time. I'm glad I read about it, because with all the baby medications not being recommended for colds, it was a lifesaver.

PS There is a reason it's put on the feet (reflexology), it will open up the airways. Also, you would never want to put Vick's of any kind on a baby's nose or under the nose. They tough their face too much and will rub it around all over in their eyes, etc.

This works for adults as well.

I loved "Little Colds when DS was about 3 months. Not sure if it's safe for a 2 month old though. I know that Saline drops in the nose is okay. Other than that, if she sleeps with you, YOU can wear Vick's so that she can breath just a little of it. You can also use a humidifier that allows for the Vapor to be added. Hope she's better soon.

BTW~ if you haven't already, take her to the Dr. She could have an Ear infection that is appearing as a cold, or she could have bacterial pnemonia- which we just got over.

Humidifier and prop her up. We co-sleep so my daughter either slept on me or I propped her up with hard pillows. (Yes, I realize it is dangerous, but I was up all night checking on her so not much sleep here anyway.) I don't give my daughter decongestants, try not to give her anything at all in light of FDA findings.

try running a humidifier at night and putting a couple of drops of saline(Ocean, saline) in her nose during the day and at night. i used to do this for my kids when they were stuffed up. every couple of hours put a couple drops in each nostril. at night i also used to put them in their car seat and put that in the crib so that they are not laying flat and it helps them breathe easier. i know at two months there is not much you can do, but i hope this helps.

Have you tried the humidafier and having her sleep a bit sitting up. Putting a couple blanket below to sit her up.
The humidafier will not harm the baby. I would put the liquid vicks. Some people don't put anything but that always worked for me.

I had this problem with my son about a month ago (he's 11 mo now) I bought the Pediacare Gentle Vapors Plug-in/nightlight thing that emits a menthol-like vapor. It worked wonders!!! I also put a folded towel under his mattress at the head of his crib to elevate him just a little to help the congestion.

Hope this helps!

We had an awful time with my daughter sleeping when she had a cold. She would get so congested she would cry when we laid her down, unable to breathe, unable to sleep. The only thing we were able to do was to sleep sitting on the couch with her sleeping sitting upright in our laps. When she was a pre-schooler/kindergartener, she and her sister slept in the master bedroom, and I would run the shower in the master bathroom on hot when I put them to bed to steam the room to help her breathe and therefore sleep.

(I was never sure if it was better to use a vaporizer or humidifier, and was paranoid about them because of what I read about keeping them clean)

Good luck!

I also have a 7 week old girl and 3 year old. They are too young for vick vapor rub. Run a humidifier all dall and suction her nose after putting in salen drops. Get a sleep positioner with am incline at target. Then when it's really bad put her to sleep upright in a swind, bouncer or carrier.

My 9 month old had a cold and she was the same way. We used saline drops then suctioned her nose. We did that before each feeding and before bed. And in addition to that at bed, we would rub vics on her feet. I know it sounds weird, but it works. She wears footed jammies and the vapors work their way up and it works like a charm.

Hope this helps

Pedia-care for infants has been dropprd from stores because of parental misuse resulting in children dieing. My doctor said for my 14 pound 7 week old to give 1/4 teaspoon of the toddler/child formula. It says on the package not to give to children under 6 without consulting a doctor.

humidifier to the MAX...baby vics vaporub, try sleeping in the infant carrier, sometimes when they have their head elevated it helps. Bummer - 3 WEEKS??? That seems a bit excessive. I'd get it checked out further medically.

If your breastfeeding squirt some breastmilk up her nose. It really is a baby's medicine. Works on eye problems in babies too. If you can't squirt it, just express some in a cup and use an eyedropper. Good luck!

try some saline drops (spray) in her nose and a humidifier not a vaporizer, and like the other lady said try to prop her up they sell the foam wedges at the store, thats what i used for my kids. If you feel comfortable with the childrens vicks you might want to ask the advise nurse first but the smell is way milder than normal vicks

M., Try a humidifier in the room and also bulb suction works to get the mucus they can't blow out like older children and adults. I have also used baby Vicks rub on my son and it seems to work!

Try suctioning her nose out right before bed and then run a vaporizor while she sleeps. Also you can prop her head up slighlty. I go through this every year with my 3 year old and now also with my 4 month old.

When my kids were congested my pediatrician recommended raising the crib higher by putting books under the legs when the baby's head is thus elevating the head.

It helped quite a bit....
