I've heard plenty of times regarding my son "Oh what a handsome boy, you should do some modeling" or phrases like that and have no idea what that industry is about. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? Of course I'd rather not put out a ton of money to do it. Thanks ladies!!

So What Happened?

I was directed to this website: www.commercialkids.com as well as the Ford and Elite websites and will let you know what comes of it. Thanks for the great advice! I was able to pass it along to a friend with a beautiful 13 yr old daughter who is also interested in modeling and she was headed for John Cassablanca. So Thank you, Thank you!!

Monica is right. I'm in the same place as you right now, but I have some experience having done some modeling myself when I was younger. Real agencies don't charge you...not even for the portfolio pics. Good luck!

Which son is it for? I just took my girls to an interview at John Casablanca. They wanted me to sign both of them up for classes. It was not in my budget. It is regularly around $1700 for 20 weeks of classes (on Saturdays) This is for 6-10 year olds. They do have a rep for the little ones and I have her card. Not sure how they handle the little ones. They do not do any classes I know that. I am sure they have you do some kind of photo shoot that you have to pay for. I am sure they do classes for the older kids too. I hope this is a little helpful anyways. you would like to information for the little ones you can give me a call. Not sure where I put the card right now. You can also look them up, they have a website.

Just to comment on Julie's post-- I "Googled" John Casablanca and got links to Ripoff Report and other scam alerts warning people *not* to spend their hard-earned money on classes through this so-called modeling agency. John Casablanca is not a modeling agency, and much like Model Productions (who ran a "casting call" at area malls not too long ago-- free, until you "win", then you have to pay through the nose for pics to continue in the competition) their "scouts" will tell you anything to get your money.

Real modeling agencies will recognize talent and work with you, not charge thousands for "classes" or pictures for an alleged "portfolio".

These are real:
http://www.fordmodels.com/main.cfm - click on ‘global scouting’
http://www.elitemodel.com/flash.html - click on ‘be discovered’

Best of luck, and remember us little people when your son hits it big! :)
