I love ny Frontier 85 and wouldn't trade it for anything. It is so easy to adjust and install. Plus it has 2 cupholders. No cons from me.
Moms of kids 4 plus. I have narrowed my search of convertible car seats to the Recaro ProSPORT and the Britax Frontier 85. I already use in my van the Britax Regent (which I love) and the Britax Decathalon. But the Recaro Proride in my hubby's car is too small now and we are looking for a replacement. Do any of you have preference, good and bad opinions between the Recaro Prosport and the Frontier 85. I did have the Diono on my list but after having the kids sit in it to test it is off my list. Thanks.

I also have the Frontier 85 and LOVE it!
We have the Frontier and have been happy with it EXCEPT it is really difficult to install. I have had to go to the fire dept to have them install it more than once. So I don't remove the seat unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I like having the 5 point harness and additional head protection until he is older (he's 5 and still has plenty of room to grow.
And in case parents aren't aware, many police stations and/or fire departments have trained people to help inspect and install carseats. :)
We have Frontier85's, but it's a tight leg fit in our Volvo s70 and v70. Also, the way the car's head rests are cantered forward affects the fit and makes the seats sit up straighter than I would like. I used the latch in the v70 to really crank them into the car's seat. I like the security but am not thrilled with the fit.
I'd buy both from Amazon (free returns for car seats) and return the one that doesn't fit in your cars.
I have a Recaro and LOVE it. It is the best carseat I've ever had -- it just feels so solid and the adjustability to fit my son has really been a plus as we change seasons (coats v. t-shirts) and of course as he grows.
We have a Frontier too.
No complaints.
I did research the Recaro seats. I like them. But I felt the Britax seats would work best for my extremely tall DD.
I'd have to image you won't go wrong w/ either choice. ;)
I just ordered another Britax Frontier on Amazon this morning. It was only $226.99 and qualified for free shipping (Babies R Us had it for $299 in the store). I really like Britax. Super safe and Made in the USA (Charlotte, NC)! This is our 3rd Frontier and 6th Britax (3 kids, 2 cars). My kids are on the small side, but I like how the Frontier goes up to 85lbs harnessed or 120lbs with a seat belt. If you child is ready for just a booster, there is also the Britax Parkway.
Frontier is great and I am really very happy with it. It's only downside is that it's hard to install, so it's not a good seat to have if you're planning to move it around a lot. But if it's going to be in his car all the time, it's wonderful.
