I used to go to a fun cookie exchange a few years ago. About 10 gals brought 11 dozen cookies each wrapped in 1 dozen packages. We had to send the recipe to the host the week before and she printed up a nice little cook book each year with all the recipes. We had a taste test using 1 dozen of each persons cookies and voted on the best cookie, taste, look, origonal idea, and ease of recipe. We won prizes, usually kitchen gadgets. It was fun. (I won a few times) We played charades, and had snacks and drinks. By the end of the evening the host had packed each of us a gift bag full of 10 dozen cookies. The main idea was that now we could go home and make up gift trays of goodies to share with neighbors, mailmen, family, whoever, and not have to make all the different cookies ourselves. I loved having the assortment I came home with.

We have one through church where everyone bakes 2 dozen cookies and sets them around the table on a platter. Then everyone goes around and takes one of each. We usually go around the table again one or two more times depending upon how many folks come. This option is nice because you get a variety, but you don't end up with tons of cookies (and therefore you don't have tons of calories that move straight to your hips!).

My mom and I are on our 12th annual cookie exchange this year and we have a process that makes everything go pretty smoothly. Everyone makes a type of cookie in 1/2 dozen packages for each other person. They also bring a copy of or attach a copy of the recipe. We have two contests - one for the best tasting cookie and one for the nicest packaging. The voting is done by the guests. We give a prize for each. The guests also bring an ornament to play "white elephant or dirty santa".

Every guest leaves with a 1/2 dozen cookies of each kind that were made. If you bring 15 - 1/2 dozen cookies, you leave with 15 - 1/2 dozen cookies.

Good luck and have fun. Message me if you have any more questions.

I attend one that a mom from one of our daughters schools began about 6 years ago.. Our kids are now in College but it is still so fun to see each other.

Hers is a pot luck, but for appetizers also! Can you tell we are big eaters?
I usually take the latest cheese ball or dip I have discovered. We place it on the table along with a stack of the recipes. She serves Wine and sparkly fruit juices.

Anyway we are all asked to take 3 dozen cookies, broken down into half dozen bags. If we want to attach the recipe that is great..(6 bags of 6 cookies)

The hostess provides handled gift bags so we can collect the bags of cookies that we would like.. At the end of the party the cookie bags are laid out on the counter and we all pick the 6 bags we would like. I would be happy to provide more than this, but many of the moms really do not have time to bake so we try not to put too much pressure on them.

Some people do not like nuts, some do not care for Chocolate!!!!So they get to pick what their family will enjoy.

My family loves when I come back with the assorted cookies.

This hostess also has a game we do every year. As we arrive, she places a Name tag on our backs. It has the name of a person, it can be a famous or not famous person or character.. Like Mickey Mouse, Or John Wayne. So you walk around and ask yes or no questions to others trying to figure out who you are. And you in turn answer other peoples questions to help them figure out who they are.

Once we are all finished eating we each stand up and take a guess as to who we are.. Some know and some are stumped. Always a good laugh..

We do this every year in my neighborhood. We have to bring 6 dozen cookies. One dozen from each lady that comes goes to a homeless shelter. Then, we set the cookies around the dining room table, and the host tells us how many cookies we can take at first. When that first round is done, we do it again and again, till all the cookies are gone. Everyone has to bring their recipe, with several copies. We pass those out too. Then we all sit around and drink wine and chit chat and have some cookies. It is fun!!!
