Hey moms out there. I have a question i'm sure you get more than once. Here's the thing. I'm having alot of "symptoms" of pregnancy but i dont "feel" pregnant.
Little history, I use the Nuva Ring for birth control, and it's great. I take it on sunday, i start my period Wed-Thurs, i put the ring back in the following sunday, and i'm done. But i have noticed that the last couple months, even with the nuva ring, my periods have been very light, almost just spotting. also, i took it out last month, (april) and i havent had a period since i took it out and left it out.
I'm very mooody and emotional, more irritable than anything, and just recently, within the last week, my boobs have been itching something fierce. and they are just kindof sore.
I have taken 3 pregnancy tests, at all times of the day, and they are all negative. now, due to complicated schedules, the last time my husband and i have had sex was Valentines day. (i know, we need to work on it. haha) so if i were infact pregnant, it would mean i was around 3 months along. if i were pregnant, wouldnt my tests come back as positive by now, should i be feeling anything, and why dont i just "know"? thanks for any advice you have.

What can I do next?

I have go with what Jill said, when on Nuvaring periods are usually brief, don't show or are only just spotting. The rages may be due to the level of hormones.

It took almost 2 years after I went off birth control pills to get a period and monthly visits to the doctor to have a pregnancy blood test (which is 100% reliable)then a shot to try to get my overies jump started. I also had a lot of the symptons of pregnancy and I already had two children so I know the symptons, but wasn't.

My advice is for you to go to the doctor and tell the doc what has been going on. If you aren't pregnant and want to be, don't give up.

You are most likely NOT pregnant. I stopped using the nuva ring in December and it wasn't until last month that I have started feeling back on track...and I had many of the same symptoms you have had.

It's just your body readjusting to being without the hormones.

Sounds like pregnancy to me! Go to the doctor and they can give you a blood test to make sure one way or the other. No sense in keep guessing - know for sure and that way if you are you can get right on prenatal vitamins and get the proper prenatal care you and baby need.

Good luck!

I highly doubt that you are pregnant...if you are, and the baby was conceived on Feb 14th...that means you would actually be 16 weeks along, and already in your second trimester...by this time, if you were pregnant you might even feel fetal movement already.
The HCG levels would be high at this point and 3 false negatives is basically not even possible. But crazy things happen sometimes...
Either way you should see your Dr.

If you were pregnant, you would have gotten a positive test by now. I wouldn't worry about pregnancy, esp. since you have taken 3 tests.

When I went off hormonal BC (the Pill) the last time, it took several months for me to get normal, predictable periods. My cycles were lasting 50-60 days, sometimes I was only bleeding for a few days, and other times, I'd bleed for almost 2 weeks.

Remember that hormonal BC basically "suppresses" your menstrual cycle. The "periods" you have are not real menstrual cycles, only breakthrough bleeding caused by the change in hormone levels when you don't have the ring in.

Your body may need a few months to get back in the swing of things. If you are worried, see your doctor. A natural way to regulate your cycle and allieve PMS (or PMS-like symptoms) is Evening Primrose Oil. Just google it and you will get a lot of information. EPO is sold everywhere--drug stores, Target.

A., I would definately see your OB. If the tests aren't coming back positive by now, it's probably something else - like just the hormone adjustment from the ring. But, you want to get that figured out. It is possible to get pregnant on that - I have two beautiful children and my second is a Nuva-Ring baby. Although it wasn't on my timing - but God's - I now wouldn't have it any other way.
Best wishes.

I would go to the OBGYN or at least call them... all birth controls are different but they all effect your hormones in one way or another. What you are experiencing could be side effects from the birth control, not positive since I do not have experience with Nuva Ring. Your doctor would be the best one to ask this question, they may have you come in for a pregnancy test, check you out to make sure other things are "normal" and reassure you of what is going on whatever that might be.

I'd go to the doctor to go get checked out to be sure. However, I do have to say the first time I went off birth control I did have some minor symptoms the first cycle afterward (a little queasiness) that I'd say were similar to when I did actually get pregnant, though much, much milder.

You can always go have it checked out. But it sounds a lot like the symptoms people have when they go off BC.

YES!!! Here's my story. I was on the nuva ring, and I took it out and put it back in religiously. One month, right after I put in the ring, my boobs got really sore. After about 4 weeks of this I took a pregnancy test which was negative. So I went about my business, took out the ring, HAD MY PERIOD, but then my prescription expired and I had to make an appointment for a physical before I could get another ring. Anyway, by the time I put it in again I was feeling extremely tired and nauseated. I took another test, now 6 weeks after my symptoms started, and it was positive. When I got my ultrasound a couple days later it turned out that I had actually gotten pregnant during the days that my ring was out (I was 7 weeks along), and that the baby survived in there while I had the ring in the whole next month. Long story short, yes, you could be pregnant, but it is unlikely that the tests would be negative at 12 weeks, but possible. Go to a doctor and get a blood test, they are much more reliable than urine tests. For what it's worth, although I wasn't prepared, I now have the most wonderful 17 month old little girl in the world and I love every minute of my life with her. Good luck!

A., I had all of the same symptoms while using Nuvaring. I eventually stopped having my periods and had all of the same weird symptoms. I have since stopped using the ring and everything is back to normal. Maybe check with your doctor to see if there is another form that would be as convenient without all of the strange side effects.

You can get a blood test at your doctor's office, which would be the most accurate. BTW if you havent had sex since Feb and you don't have "human" babies, you may want to work on that - ask yourself why, because time won't get better with children. I have a 5 month old and 2 yr old and make time for sex - its important, we also both work full time

A.,

If you were pregnant, you should be getting clear positive results before 12 weeks. I think the hormone shift is due to something else. That being said, pregnancy tests aren't perfect and neither is birth control. If you want to rule it out completely, see a doctor. You could talk about the hormones while you are there.

Good luck,

I seriously doubt that you are pregnant. If you were three months along, you would definately be showing positive by now. Chances are, since you took out your nuva ring and didn't put it back in, your hormones are all over the place.
